Crucible has become almost unplayable
Im not one to complain and Ill be the first to admit im not the best crucible player. However its become almost unplayable now.
All it consists of now is getting 2 shotted by Thorn, One shoted with a Shotgun with outrageous range or getting Supered. Gun battles no longer exist. Even though I was never the best crucible player I enjoyed playing it and having those gun fights. Its sad to see what the crucible has evolved into.
Edit 1: Its funny to read so many people defending Thorn acting as if its balanced. when they're clearly using it in pvp because they know for a fact it gives them a huge advantage. Shotguns are an issue partly because almost all the maps are such cqc maps that saying keep your distance is a thoughtless comment. Especially when it comes to having to be in an tight space capturing a flag. Congrats to those who have used no brain power at all when posting comments like saying keep your distance. Hard to do when someone can run right up to you while your emptying your clip into them and 1 shot you with a shotgun.
Edit 2: Just rolled a Gjallarhorn from a purple engram I got after the Weekly Heroic. Haters gonna Hate.

I'm watching twitch streams in an attempt to kill time at work and I switch stream when people are entering the Crucible, I just cant watch it anymore. I thought some of the other fanchises were shit but Destiny takes the cake in terms of being dumbed down, gimmicky and filled with idiots. The latter being an outcome of the former since every semi intelligent person left a long time ago. I've lost track of the times I've seen people run toward eachother from 50 yards just to meet in a shotgun duel. Unbelievable!

I played halo 3 custom games a lot back in the day and i find that crucible is similar to a 10-year-olds map in halo, where rocket launchers and grenades are everywhere, and you are essentially locked in a box. Toss in supers and primary weapons like thorn and the vex and boom, crucible. Oh and the host of the game happens to have cheeseburger/walmart internet every single time.

Thorn is an exotic for a reason... It shouldn't be balanced just so a rare HC can outshoot it...

I agree. Took a few weeks from crucible to play more raids and or other games. Friends invited me for some control. Blink shottys everywhere. To me it wasn't THIS bad at launch. Got so bad we started talking how we missed Bungies Halo multiplayer like SWAT mode, team snipers, oddball. So now, I'll raid against Atheon / Crota then go raid against friends with energy sword once we are done with that.

The map designs the problem. All they nades are is huge mash ups of a cubicle office building. No room for anything and even in the more open bits it is very cramped

The reason they rule that lands is because they are so much better than most guns that baddies can do well with them and good people will wreck with them. Sure there are other weapons that aren't bad but I believe in equal hands those weapons would beat most weapons outright. (Looks at my trusty tdyk) I feel sorry for Bungie, they have made a pvp mode that's going to be impossible to balance due to pve ramifications. They can't truly nerf stuff without destroying it for pve or making separate stats like what they did for shotguns. For me the thing that makes crucible barely playable is the ridiculous amount of lag and red bars in most games.

Dunno bro. Not the best player either, but I've been in the positive more often than not for a sec now. I've taken down Thorn users and folks with shotties. Doesn't feel that hard either. Maybe land more head shots? Lol! Good luck to ya if you continue to play.

I do think thorn is balanced, I have it and personally don't enjoy using it and don't think it's that good.

1 ReplyThorn, last word and hawkmoon are extremely op and the only people that defend them are people that use them regularly, they're completely blinded by the crutch and have a deadly fear of losing that overpowered weapon and getting destroyed by people who use guns with linear time to kills.

Interesting. I note that your real complaint is that it isn't a gun battle. It isn't meant to be a gun battle. Weapons are only a part of it. Supers, grenades, melee specials are an intrinsic part of the crucible. The crucible is the practice arena, where you are supposed to use them. That is the way the game is intended. So your issue is that you are wanting to play a game that isn't Destiny. Kinda strange, to me at least, that you would do that.

Play Clash not Control. I have found that capture a zone is an instant shotgun death. Clash is more fun, it less a shotgunfest. People actually even use a sniper in clash. Also the DLC-Clash playlist is very nice, Skyshock being my favorite map. Very open lots of sightlines. I wish their were more of these maps

4 RepliesThey did overdo the Thorn buff. I was an avid Thorn user pre-buff and knew it already had the potential to be op. All it needed was either an increased mag OR increased reload speed. Unfortunately bungie listened to the complainers who didn't even own a Thorn.

They should have left Suros alone..you can longer stop people from running up on you. They nerfed it because people used auto rifles too much. However, Iron Banner had auto rifle specific bounties ( the only weapon with its own bounty). Agree that lag is bad.

14 RepliesThorn is definitely OP. Shotguns can't afford to be nerfed any further. Auto-Rifles should be restored to their former glory. Pulse-Rifles should stay where they're at. Final round snipers shouldn't exist. And super energy gained should be reduced slightly making supers less common, which would hopefully result in players using their super more tactically. But what do I know, I just play the game.
