A Disgruntled 10+ year Fan's Response to the Bungie Jan 29th Weekly Update

So... the incompetence continues, Bungie. All I read from this "update" is: you recognize that there is a bug. A bug we've been telling you about for 4+ months. Then, you post an interview with a programmer who is tasked with fixing this bug, and he all-but admits that he has no idea how to fix it, or at least no way to fix it without breaking five other things. Still no mention of: Raid bugs (both Raids)(exact lists of Raid glitches and bugs are too numerous to list here) Various armor/weapon bugs and glitches No... we just get a lesson in the incompetence of your development team, and a snarky comment on another feature that has been asked for... well, since the damn game launched. I call "bullshit" that a new feature takes a bit to modify/introduce. You guys gave us double the Bounty slots in less than two months. It apparently is not that difficult, I just think this is a cover-up for "we aren't really going to fix it (because our Activi$ion overlords told us not to), but we have to tell you something to placate you lesser creatures"... This is bullshit. No substance to the game. Their own Gamers ignored when literally hundreds of items and features that could save this game have been given to you guys. Fixes "the way we intended you to play" rather than fixing bugs and glitches that not only break their game, but renders both Raids nigh-unplayable due to said bugs/glitches. The sad thing is; most of our suggestions were advertised as a part of the game from the ads, videos, and interviews from well before the game launched. These things were already going to be in the game. Why were they cut out!? Because Bobby Kotick is a greedy, cancerous, shit-stain on the gaming industry as a whole. I guess we really aren't going to be allowed to become Legend and "play the way you want to" like was advertised. So little deviation in this game. Everyone looks the same because Bungie keeps an extremely limited number of armor variations in their game. Sure they added some with 'The Dark blows', but they took out more than they added when they removed the older armor sets from the game. No word on why they made 'The Dark Blows' weapon selection absolute garbage when compared to the base game inventory or weapons. So... the "professional" reviewers (even the ones you paid for good reviews, like IGN) are soundly rejecting and brutally criticizing Destiny and it's very obvious flaws, broken code, lack of story/lore, small cramped maps, lack of variation in the short list of missions. Gamers who play Destiny for hours per day and give you guys the same feedback as the professional reviewers but with suggestions to fix the game are being summarily ignored. At least, ignored until Activi$ion looks at it and thinks it might actually be a cheep, money-free fix... This is such a long, gory fall from the heights you attained with Halo, Bungie. This new Bungie is a pathetic shell of the company that made Marathon, Oni, and Halo. With those games; you made a solid, fun product, and the money rolled in to you guys. Now you're giving us a shit-tier, half-assed product and trying to bilk us for money for an inferior, reskinned and recycled product. That was a company that actually cared about the product they produce and what their Gamers were thinking about said product. This new Activi$ion/Bobby Kotick led money-monstrosity-Bungie is an abomination, a cancer, on this industry. But I will tell you what you have succeeded amazingly well at, Bungie. You've guaranteed, without a doubt, that I will buy no more of your games again. Ever. I'll stick around to see what you guys do with House of Wolves (only because I've already paid for it, and I'm not going to pay for a pathetically small DLC and then never play it); but you can forget about any other DLC's (these are not expansions), you can forget about trying to get me to purchase "Comet", and you can sure as hell forget about Destiny 2. Have I been a bit harsh or mean in this post? Probably. But you deserve it for this sub-standard product that resembles nothing close to what you advertised to us before launch. you brought this upon yourselves.

 • Feel better OP? Got it all out? Ok. I'll take a quick moment to address a few things:
I call "bullshit" that a new feature takes a bit to modify/introduce.
Call bullshit then. I actually work with computers daily M-F 8-5 p.m. and sometimes more and I can tell you there is a process at work which many don't approve of, but it doesn't change the reality of the situation. They are expected to do certain pieces of work. You do not know that workload because you, frankly, sound too young to even grasp the basic job description for a computer programmer. No worries though.
Fixes "the way we intended you to play" rather than fixing bugs and glitches that not only break their game, but renders both Raids nigh-unplayable due to said bugs/glitches.
I've always loved this. The argument. I'm going to give you a very easy example. Back in 2004, California based a new water bill. It became a law. The law stated that all VOC (Volatility of Chemicals) material sheets needed to meet certain criteria. This meant our plants which produced drinkable water or anything else including paints with chemicals in it, needed to be classified accordingly to the new regulations. What was hidden about it was an inside tax used on tax payers years later in 2009 for the purchase and resale of paint related products. It caused a market fluctuation sooo high, they reduced the tax IMMEDIATELY because of the impact. The "bug" which occurred was an independent source came forward and said it was possible to do. What they DIDN'T get asked by the northern california representatives without the southern half's approval at the city level was what the negative impact to the economy would be. It was perfectly predicted out. It was SUPPOSED to cause major market inflation. California representatives SCRAMBLED to fix the issue. Now? The tax is still in place, but it's much more stable. With a computer system? You are taking that basic idea of manipulating truths and exponentially making it bigger. To put it simply: If the raid bugs, glitches, and otherwise was impacting so many thousands of people in Destiny as it did in the state of california, Bungie would DEFINITELY scramble to fix it. No questions asked. The damage NEEDS to equate reckless abandon of the current system. A few people reported that issue on these forums and I myself looked at those, went into the raids, and never had a problem arise. Never. Does it mean it shouldn't be fixed? No. I agree. It should be fixed. But computer programming, as Deej said, takes time. It's not just script writing you have to do. Every variable which changes changes something else. What was acceptable before is no longer acceptable now. Also. If you think Bungie is like California government. They aren't. Trust me. Forbes has listed California for two years in a row (2013 and 2014) as the worst run state out of them all for a reason. California has a repeated history of making those large caliber mistakes.
I guess we really aren't going to be allowed to become Legend and "play the way you want to" like was advertised.
You really take things too far. You have patrol, crucible, raids, gear customized for each situation, blah blah blah and you think those hard/set-in-stone deliverable don't satisfy the "play the way you want to" statement? You paid for an experience. You got one. You want more? Well. There will be more. You REALLY need to understand that regardless of how you word something, they HAVE to find the positive message in your post. You aren't happy with the current content load? Ok. They'll tailor the next DLC to fit with the story to give you more content like they said in The Dark Below interviews. They made it fit into the storyline. Apparently it was originally designed for some other purpose. Maybe an expansion meant for more side missions and quests. Like a filler arc. Instead? You got new maps and everything which is tailored to the storyline already laid out in the grimoire. You don't like the grimoire? Want that content in-game? Guess what? It didn't happen. Well it should have? Maybe it should have. Clearly it didn't. It doesn't matter then does it? You want to know more about Destiny? Read into the situations. You want be more familiar with universe of it? Read the grimoire. This game is built on the same concepts ALL games are built on. You don't get it? You want more out of it? Ok. Perfectly fine. Bad news? You've set your expectations to a common problem level called "hype" level. You never believe the hype. You simply relax and let the adventure be something you want it to be or you quit and don't look back. What's it going to be for you?
