Not true at all. You an get exotics from purple engrams, crucible drops, nightfall reward drop, weekly heroic reward drop, ROC playlist reward drop, and that doesn't even mention the five exotic weapons you can get from the bounties. I don't want to get rid of Xur, I see no need to since he only brings a good loot table once a month (every other time it's just repetition and disappointment).
