So I ran the sword for the first time.
After weeks of been the guy to take down crotas shield I joined a group with my 31 hunter and they didn't have a sword bearer. They asked if I could use the sword and I told them I had never done it before but was willing to try. I can honestly say I thought it was going to be a lot harder than it actually was, credits to my fireteam for baring with me the first couple of wipes, but after about 4 tries we dropped crota and I even got the 4th horseman for my efforts. Then everyone wanted to run a fresh run and I used my warlock, what happened? We dropped him straight away and completed the raid in next to no time :) I can now safely say I'm quite comfortable using the sword no problem. Next step, cracking it on hard lol.
Now I know people are going to come on this post and post hate, but oh well life goes on lol.
Only just realised the post is on the trending section :) thanks for all the support guys. Alls I can say is, if your wanting to try the sword go for it, you just need a real laid back fireteam

I remember when I did it with my warlock for the first time. I went to jump on the rock on left side. Stupid warlock started floating around like a damn fairy and I ended up missing the rock. Of course I panicked, it being my first time, and could not get on that damn rock after multiple attempts. It must have looked ridiculous. Had to wait until next sword. Felt like a jack ass. It's fun to do the sword though.

My first time was on crota hard and it was actually pretty easy, I just got to learn to time my hits

1 ReplyI'm only a 30 hunter so every time I have done Crota on normal there has been either a 31 or 32 hunter to do it instead. I really want to have a go at kicking Crota's ass myself. Maybe next week :)

If team shuts up, and listen to the swordbearer it becomes much much easier. I cant take it when someone calls the rockets ir just rushes out after the glass drops

Edited by Camaztle: 3/5/2015 9:57:36 PMDid my first crota run in 18 minutes because only 2 people were shooting rockets and Crota was moving way too much. He ran back and forth 3 times in 7 minutes.

I was told to try sword on HM Crota one time because I was the only Hunter in the group, but I didn't have a helm that can heal me nor Red Death, so I felt really nervous. We didn't get through it of course. I really would like to learn though so that I can give the two usual guys in my fireteam a break from running sword all the time. They've recently let me practice on Normal mode. :D One day I hope to beat Crota as swordbearer.

Bump! I did this on my 32 Titan last week. No wipe. This week would've had him in 2 swords but he moved on the sword, but then I got a 5-hit down on the 3rd sword to kill him.

Did the same thing last week on hard mode. Took a few wipes to figure out what I needed to do but once I got things down it's pretty easy.

I've been sacking up and trying it recently too. I'm making mistakes like jumping up too soon, or double melee-ing when I blink strike, and getting cut in half. And, bad jumps. So it's frustrating and I feel bad letting down the team. But once I get it, it will be so sweet. thanks OP for giving me hope

We had a guy run sword for the first time the other day...it was depressing to watch. He was a bladedancer and after every down instead of using his blink strike like I told him, he would run back to the rock -.- the only reason we beat crota was because we had a Titan run up with him and place a bubble with weapons of light. I understand that it was his first time but really come on now. -.-

I'm in the same boat I just did it for the first time and it's not that bad. I'm working on soloing it now.

I ran the sword as well for the first time with one run after watching my friend do it over and over again. I still think I will need several more runs before I can say that I am comfortable with it

I had my first couple of trys with the sword earlier. Only literally had 2 attempts before an experienced swordbearer joined but I was doing ok, just need some more practice and to work on my getaway after the 2nd down.

2 RepliesIt's easy. Once you get it down, you can really impress people. :) I almost one sworded Crota with only two downs. I managed a 6th hit on Crota second down. ( all as a Titan. )

Not saying this in order to discourage you. But it realy isn't that hard. Non the less, congratz. Hard is almost practiclly the same though you have to be lot more alerted. I wield the sword since the dlc came out and had a great time. Its the fun part in the party :)

me and my friend generally run sword on normal and hard but recently on normal weve been giving all the fireteam one go each to get a feel for it some of them do better than others as expected , but its fun to listen to there comments as they are the ones generally shouting stuff (on hard mode) like quick get out of there hes gonna hit you or you could have got one more hit in there , things i already know , trust me i am stood bang next to crota and know what i need to do and to get away safely , but since running the sword themselves now they dont shout as much and appreciate what a swordbearer has to do

4 RepliesI have to admit, hard is a different, but took a few peole through easy last night, and our sword bearer had a little to much to drink, we asked if anyone else would want to take a swing at it, this is on easy mind you, one person said he would need to chage to his hunter, another said he cannot run the sword as a warlock. Me, running a warlock, found this to be an insult. I told them, let me up my agility, and I will do it. One and a half swords and he was gone. Dont ever let anyone say you cant run the sword because of your class.
