Getting a ps4 soon and want to know what to expect, is there much of a difference in terms of how the game looks and plays?
Edit: seems to be a little contradicting views but most say there is some but not a lot of a difference.
Edit 2: ps4 came today, no games arrived though, sad times :(
Edit 3: my amazing wife came home with a ps4 copy of destiny last night.
There is quite a significant difference in the two. Level of detail on ps4 is amazing.

Most noticeable difference is the inventory screen. Last gen takes forever compared to current gen to access abd swap gear. Ive seen footage of ps3/xbox 360 inventory load times and i think it would break the game for me if i had to deal with that.

theres literally no difference

It's like going from VHS so blue ray

When I play BO2 with my friends on PS3, I always complain about how everything is so fuzzy. Definitely upgrade.
-
The best comparison I've heard yet is; It's like that feeling you had when you went from DVD to blu-Ray .

Edited by uncle_yugles: 3/4/2015 10:26:47 PMWhen you go from the ps4 to the PS3, the PS3 just looks kind of blurry. The picture on the ps4 is so much sharper, and the colors and light are more vibrant

Lighting effects are very different. Fallen and Hive eyes glow very brightly. There are very small details on weapons and ships that really show up well.

1 ReplyThe biggest difference I saw between them was how fast it took to load the menu

Ps4 is don I could never play this game or in fact any games on PS3 anymore... Ps4 as ruined graphics for me they are just plain amazing.... They are that good I felt sorry for my brother playing destiny on PS3 an went and bought him a ps4. That an I wanted him to jump in on my fireteams!!

It won't change your life

Waay better

Probably same diff as xbone and 360. A bit more detail like a few more bushes blowing in the wind. Not spectacularly different IMO.

It looks about ughhhahahuh

17 RepliesShouldn't be much different. When a game comes out on multiple platforms, the graphics for the newer systems have to be reduced to match the older systems. That's why people say the graphics look the same, because they basically are. After all, if you're gonna code a game for ps4 and ps3, why go through the trouble of making a different one for ps4 when one will work on each system? That's how I think it goes.

Main change is color. Ps3 looks a bit more washed out than ps4, which looks more likely. But I could care less. Same game either way.
-
It's the -blam!-ing same
-
Major improvement
-
Crystal clear.
-
I love it but I could play destiny on PS3 without caring to much.
-
3 RepliesWay faster loads and pop ups, obviously better graphics but not markedly. Exclusive titles look a lot better (driveclub, killzone, etc)

I bought Destiny on PS3 initially and upgraded soon after. The jump in display quality is pretty significant, but doesn't revolutionise the game since all the art assets were preserved so well for PS3. Still vastly prefer the PS4 version.
-
There is much more detail especially noticeable on the spaceship load screen. Besides that it's mainly a graphics improvement but still makes it look very nice.

There is a ton of difference..... Don't let anyone fool you. I first played destiny by renting it from RedBox for my PS3. I then saw it on PS4 and instantly went out and bought one a PS4 and Destiny. There is no comparison, get a PS4 if funds allow it.

Very good
