The FAMILY MAN struggle

Any other family peeps out there have to balance Destiny with work, kids and a wife/girlfriend? My wife puts up with Destiny but it's mostly because I don't play till kids are tucked in and read to and I try and watch a show of my wife's choosing before jumping on. Stay on late get up early... Worth it! What is everyone's ritual for getting to Destiny without getting in trouble with the family? Edit: I love that I'm not alone in this. I can't believe how many people have the identical schedule as mine! Must be why I always find good randoms when I'm on, we are all family men. #destinydadsunite Edit: We got our first Toxic Troll response. So I would like to give the award for biggest buzzkill to SEANY, You earned it bro. Edit: WOW GUYS AND GALS!!! I woke up to hundreds more comments and 99% of them are positive! It's amazing to see so many good family peeps finding a healthy balance between gaming, work and family. You people are amazing and I'm not sure I've smiled so much reading these posts. Edit: over 1000 replies!!!! Nice to see so many awesome people out there and hardly any trolls! Stay real guardians.

I have to balance it with 3 kids and the man I'm going to marry, a butcher by trade, who is also playing when he can, one ps4, 2 of us... And sadly it was supposed to be a Xmas gift for his son...we are both hopelessly addicted, it's a great Escape from the real world

Wow.. Just? Wow.. How is not being able to play Destiny a struggle? These threads irritate the hell out of me. Poor you.. A victim of family responsibility, the "Family men", I use that term loosely.. Parade around on the forums like they have some sort of fatal disability!? Are u serious? Here's the thing.. You are not special, you had a choice to start a family and you had a choice to buy/play this game. Either do one, or both without moaning to everyone like an abused child. My friends and I each have full time jobs and house holds to run with wife's, kids etc and manage to game. It's not hard to do. Grow a pair! Edit: First off, I'd like to thank the OP. Without your mention I don't think this would have reached the Ppl it needed to. Secondly, No where did i target an individual. If the shoe fits, wear it, and my god did all you two faced hypocrites gladly put BOTH shoes on. You pride yourselves on your family values yet have managed to get my comment trending by your insulting replys and abuse. I'm toxic? Lol look at you.. I've stood back and watch this pearl form, It's been majestic. Great parents you are, I really hope your kids grow up to be just like you. The fact that so many of you were angry enough to reply in the ways you have shows me i definitely struck a nerve. Truth hurts a Lil hey? :( My only regret is I may never top this. So thank you, you needed to see this . You need know what a pathetic hypocritical attention seeker you are. I mean? If didn't tell you, who would?! So? Why you mad, brah?

      • Grow a pair and play your video games when you want. Real men don't need to watch The Kardashians or Real Housewives to gain video game permission... And the women folk are responsible for the children's bs. It's 2015.

      • I'm in the same boat as you my friend. Get home from Work spend time with kids and watch some TV with the wife hoping she falls asleep before 9pm lol. Then I get my Destiny fix. It's something you have to do to keep a happy household ☺

      • Job comes first, have to put food on the table and a roof over our heads. Kids come second, they need a Father more then I need a game. Wife comes third, because she is my enabler and my companion. If she isn't happy, she finds ways to spread the unhappiness around. Commitments come fourth, because if I do not keep my word then I would not like the person I have become. The game comes fifth, in whatever time I have free to pursue it. After everything is added up, I get about 3-4 hours per week of playtime. I would like it to be more but unfortunately that is the way it is. I love to play Destiny, and it enriches my life in the time I have available for it.

          • I wake up, go to class, go to work, do homework, spend time with my wife, and go to bed. The only time I manage to play is if my wife works late at the hospital, and I manage to get caught up on homework. In other words I play about one night a week for a couple hours.

          • I'm with you, man. I play after the kids are in bed and I always pitch in with dishes or something just so she doesn't feel like I'm slacking off. I pull off about 1.5-2 hours a night a few times a week and she's cool with it; raids on Fridays. To ensure that things stay smooth, I do dishes, and try to surprise her with folded laundry. That way, she has time to read or watch something on her laptop while I play a bit.

          • Mine is pretty much the same as yours. Once our son goes to bed I get to play. Luckily my son is only 1.5 years old so he goes to bed early.

          • Yeah, it's all a balance. 1 child, fiancé, and just moved to a different state for job transfer makes it rough to see all my friends with 3 guardians with all raid gear, 1 32 toon barely, and no ghorn. But coming home from work to see my daughter crawl to me and fiancé having dinner made with my favorite soda makes me put my hours with them over having the best in a video game.

            • Kid (2 year old) goes to bed around 8-9. Watch a show/movie/play quick game with wifey (spend time with her in general). Back rub and/or sexy time then when midnight rolls around when everyone is asleep, the headphones go on and Destiny starts up. Play till maaaybe 3 a.m. depending on how much I need to do. Then get up around 7-8 a.m. when kid wakes up.

            • I work midnights, and my crappy off days are Tuesday Wednesday Thursday. I'll usually game all night on those days. Wife, stepdaughter are sleeping, like all the normal people, so it doesn't impact their lives. Lucked out and found a good bunch of guys to raid with that are on pacific time. I'm on eastern so, they're ready to game after midnight my time. Got 2 of my characters to 32, working on a hunter right now.

Finally a decent post... Wireless headphones are the key. Nice to see other people out here with their priorities in order. As long as you are a good husband and awesome daddy, destiny time should never be a Problem. My wife likes to flash me when she walks by and I gladly except the death 😊 my youngest daughter when she is around likes me to change all my characters clothes lol... And when is raid time they know to watch and not bug. It's all moderation...i put them first and they know when it is daddies time then it is well deserved. Dont know you but I like Ya... You seem like a cool dude

                  • Dads of Destiny (DoD). Join up, find a clan. Always good dudes on to play with day or night, and we understand if someone has to jump off and get a kid back in bed, change a diaper etc. Best of all NO TOXIN!
