Don't buy them. You'll be MUCH happier with the drop perks, over the shop perks. I have all NM weapons from drop, except the shotty. Waiting for that one still. Red Hand is a beast. So is Admonisher. Equip the class item and use it all the time. For bounties, decoding engrams, Nightfall, and Heroic.

I haven't had any drop since DLC. FWC sells a HC with field scout though so I was considering giving that a try.? Is it No good?

Almost none in NM since DlC, I just started doing them again. But just to be sure, I think I was misunderstanding how it all worked. You can only get their shaders and ships from packages? The vendor inventory doesn't update as you level up?

Correct. What you can purchase, stays the same.
