Why is the Tower so empty??

Title says it all, how come the Tower just looks/feels like a ghost town? There's little to no sound, only a few random NPC's walking around certain areas, and just a whole lot of nothing seems to be going on. Was it due to older console restrictions? Or is the Tower just supposed to feel dead? Edit: Everyone seems to think I'm talking about actual players in the tower, or the servers being down. I'm talking about what Bungie put in the tower, the NPC's, the vendors, just everything in general. The tower feels empty, even with max players filling the lobby.

  • I'm pretty sure they made it that way on purpose - it makes it feel more alive like a real place. Think about it, when it's full of guardians (like it will be in about 8 hours) it feels energetic, thriving, bursting with activity. Then there are the weekends when it's steady but not busy (aside from "the search Xur" when it's packed and everyone is running every which way). Then there is the calm before the storm (Mondays, hours before reset when everyone is finished for the week or out getting in those weeklies/raids they haven't done yet before reset) when it's so quiet you wonder if anyone is even playing destiny right now. I mean think about it, even major cities that "never sleep" have times when it's oddly quiet and you feel alone (depending on location, of course) I think it really adds to the atmosphere of the game.
