You might like "Caprica"... its a prequel to Battlestar Gallactica. Im watching it right now and its excellent; unfortunately I know that it too gets cancelled after 1 season, so Im not sure if they resolve the story in that one season.
I know its not an anime, but I also like Cowboy Bebop, Ergo Proxy, Akira, Serial Experiments Lain, Psycho Pass... etc. (Also Full Metal Panic... different genre, but still shows some similar taste in shows).

Didn't see you list Last Exile... if you like the epicness and heroics of BSG you'll love Last Exile. Different era, still epic ship battles and outstanding character development and storytelling.

I watched Last Exile all the way through. I hated it. Except for the one guy that died at the end, he was cool.

Lol Lain... mind-blam!- city. Loved that one. I plowed through BSG a couple years back... loved it. I bought caprica on DVD awhile back, haven't gotten around to it yet.

haha, yeah Lain was a crazy show. I don't know why, but I thought about buying Caprica a bunch of times but just didnt. Now Im watching it and cant understand why I didnt watch it earlier. First half of episode one is a bit irritating, but it gets good fast.
