Worst raiding experience ever
I frequently join random groups of people to do raids and I really enjoy it, you meet some cool people and get the good loot ;)
But this morning I had the worst raiding experience so far...
Myself and one of my friends had just completed atheon and got thunderlord and hawkmoon, so obviously we wanted to run it again, so we searched on the groups for some randoms to join us.
This guy advertises ATHEON CHECKPOINT ON HARD, need 2 more
So we join.
Turns out he was at the gatekeeper checkpoint, no problem, we'll just blitz trough that and kill Atheon.
But this guy...oh my god this guy...
After telling us that he knew so much about destiny and how good he was it turned out that this was the most difficult gatekeeper checkpoint ever, everyone dying except for me and my friend. We finally finish that checkpoint and get to atheon.
Now this guy insists he knows exactly what he is doing and keeps picking up the relic...when I say he needs to cleanse, he asks me 'how'
Are you serious? I said in 4 separate occasions 'does everyone know what they are doing? It's fine if you don't, just say now so we can explain the plan'
I just got silence back
Please, for the love of god, if you don't know what you are doing JUST SAY!!!!
Edit: Okay, so it seems like there are a lot of people who have had bad raiding experiences, but here is the thing...they don't have to be!
If you want someone to help you out with raiding and you play on ps4, I'll be happy to teach you and run through with you at some point, no problem :) my psn name is the same as my username on this forum.

I had a group that couldn't get past confluxes on normal mode, and everyone was level 29+.

The last time I used lfg was when Crota hard came out. I should've opted out when I joined the party and it already had 8 people in it. I hung for around 5 wipes before I made an excuse to leave. It was a cluster -blam!-. Couldn't hear the sword bearer over the yelling, various sex act demands, and details of what they do to each other's mothers. When they did the heavy ammo glitch they ran around the map shooting each other. When they ran out ammo they'd start punching each other. That was the final lfg for me. Never again. If I can't find a group out of my clan and our friends list I'll do something else.

And if you want to learn what modesty is I'll tell you :) because all it takes to stop bad experience is ghorn and a gtfo relic

When people can't admit it's their first raid. When people can't relic/don't want to, it makes the raid better because I can do it :)

Lfg got really bad. I used groups from LFG for months after my friends left destiny for a while. They came back and I found another group to play with. Now I'm running through VoG with a mate helping him get a Ghorn while no one else was on and because I always had so much ease doing raids with lfg groups I said let's take some randoms with us. We beat the raids pretty easily, but that was because we can carry teams easily. It were still mostly horrible experiences. We've had 3 groups where the 4 guys that joined us didn't say a word. I asked them things and didn't get responses. I told them what they should do and they didn't causing wipes. All they used their mic for was complaining about their loot after beating atheon, no "thank you", no "good run", just "OMG I didn't get a ..... " followed by a player has left fireteam/party. I don't get why people don't talk during raids. I get some people are shy, but not calling out enemies/situations where you need help or responding when someone asks you something is just rude and annoying. Well at least me and my mate had a good laugh when there was this awkward silence and I shot my icebreaker at our teammates to break the ice :D Props to the people we found on lfg who did talk, who made us laugh, who contributed and made it a fun experience.

i think the worst is spending hours with noobs trying to beat a raid.. then switching to a better group and beaitng it first time. so much wasted timeee

Yeesh, thats rough dude. Hard to believe such a small % of community has finished a raid. When I first hit Vog, I asked for constant guidance.

2 RepliesMy biggest issue is getting into raids with players that don't know what they're doing. Sad to see a level 34 that doesn't know what an oracle is or how to lead out left and right wizard on crota.

3 RepliesBiggest problem I've found is as soon as you say you don't know what your doing you either get booted or everyone moans tells you to hide while they do everything. I've only ran vog 3/4 times kinda know what to do, never ran relic as don't know how and no one's ever willing to be patient and help out. All people want is a quick run through for the loot.

4 RepliesI told a group yesterday that I had no clue what I was doing. They had me grab the relic every time and had me go through every portal so I would know what to do. I messed it up a few times, but eventually I got it. Now I can run through the raid without issue! Awesome experience! Letting the other players know you are ignorant to the raids does not make you incompetent.

Did Crota hard with a lfg and leader says first time doing hard but have seen vids. No problem I'm not a pro but have completed it multiple times on hard so I explain the major differences. We get to Crota and as we talk strat he says lets do left he'll cover boomers. No we don't do left we go mid and then after second sword we go right tower for ogres and I explain and walk through where to go. Explain that dead boomers cause wizards to spawn so ignore them and in mid your safe. First try, over soul "why is there a gatekeeper in the bottom room" yeah don't go in there just follow us middle platform shoot rockets when instructed and follow group not hard if we all stick to the script. Next run, sword bearer down, since we only had a 31 hunter and all warlocks I said I would run sword, never did to completion but I know what I have to do. I grab sword, and I am running to get on rock, him:shoot em. me: huh? Rockets fly I don't get there in time and again wipe. Please let me call rockets since I need to be in place. After a couple more tries half the team leaves. Again i am not a pro but have run it enough to know the mechanics and follow directions, especially from the guy running the sword since he is the one in the most danger. I have no problem helping people out, even if I completed raids and they need one more to finish it off or some sections and I have time I'll help since people have done the same for me, but if your new to it, don't instruct, listen and follow till you get the hang of it. It's something that needs coordination to get done quickly and efficiently. No one wants to waste 2 hours trying to kill Crota when that cp should take all of 10 minutes if done right and as a team.

First vog, got pulled into a group with guys I knew and randoms at the templar. This was early on so everything was cheesed I didn't know what to do except not die. I was level 26 and my best weapon was a rare auto rifle so I struggled everywhere especially when we were at atheon with the suppli-blam!-s. Think I ended up with like 100 kills and 200 assists. It was taking so long so we decided to try the warlock grenade cheese, the guys just couldn't get him off the edge. I think we wiped over 100 times. And spent close to 6 hours in there. It really turned me off it haha. Once I got to level 28 I tried with a more competent group and was all good haha. I was late to the crota raids due to recently becoming a father. So my first attempt was with a group who had done it multiple times but I was the only hunter so I "had" to run the sword. There was 3 level 32s in there too who wouldn't run it because they werent hunters and this was only on normal. It took an hour and we still didn't down him. Due to the fact I was still getting the timing right and these guys were using primaries to bring him down. I bailed and found a more competent group who let me run the sword because I wanted to get it down pat but they had the right firepower and we got it done in about 10 minutes lol.

1 ReplyGot into a group of straight 30's and up, I was a level 27 titan, I was the only one who knew how to use the relic, until 10 tries at Atheon... BEFORE YOU GO INTO VoG GO GET ON YOUTUBE AND SEARCH UP "HOW TO USE THE FRESKING RELIC" CHEESE MAN...

was playing crota hard at crota with this overprotective bf who wouldnt let his gf join the party. I suggested she shoot the rock because boomers kept killing the swordbearer and her rocket launcher wasnt that good. After I say this she says i have done this before and dont need to. Turns out she was wrong so me and my friend left and did crota with people who knew what they were doing.

Me and my guys needed a couple more so we hit the forums. This guy said "experienced" so I'm thinking, cool right? Wrong. He was outside of the portal and the other two guys died outside from supplicants, and we were on the last round. We said "open the portal on Venus"............silence..........."how do u do that?"..........kick. 5 manned it no problem next run.

Joined a group last week trying to do the crota cp on hard. They were looking for 32s. I decided to help out. I join and find out they are all 31. No big deal. I figure they have some experience and we talk some waiting for another 32 to join. I figure it will be hard, but I remember how hard it was to find help when I was 31. We start and one of them immediately dies. So we decide to wipe. We try 5 more times and they keep dying within the first 30 seconds. They can't even make it out of the crystal room! I gave up, said good luck, and left for orbit.

Just had a bad one. Got to gatekeeper and all of the sudden someone joins chat party and starts messing bout on share play with another player so no communication is happening cos we can't hear each other over him. He gets kicked finally but by then we down to four players, I find a fifth and explain it can still be done and run through what the plan is to a couple of raid newcomers. One lvl 32 does his own thing causing team to wipe multiple times and then moans at me cos "all I care about is killing the gatekeeper" ???!

1 ReplyTried to get Crota Hard done for my Warlock last night. Took three attempts to find a decent team. First lot claimed to know what they were doing but spent all thier time talking about sports and friends, and sucked due to lack of concentration. I gave them a fair crack, but when the only other decent guy left I gave my excuses and left too. Second group were squeaker kids who thought they knew everything. After three attempts (made longer due to them insisting on ammo glitching) it was obvious it was never going to happen. I gave them some advice and left. Third groupn communication like the S.A.S, ammo synth galore and no need for me to explain anything to anyone. Did it in just a couple of goes. Bliss. Moral: don't wait around if its going nowhere.
