I kept hold of the bounty until I got Atheon Epilogue and waited for Iron Banner. Then, just grind away until done. I also had two other exotic bounties that required crucible (10k kills and 25 kills more than deaths). Done, now have no reason to go back to the crucible, when I get those exotic bounties again they just get binned.
