Desperately need tips for Thorn PVP 500 Void Kills
I hope some people can shed some light on the PVP part of this bounty for me, because right now it is incredibly frustrating to say the least, to the point I'm considering dropping the bounty for the 2nd time.
This is the 2nd time I've received the Thorn bounty on my Titan, and I gave it up the last time because the PVP part was impossible for me to even sniff at completing. Titan void grenades are garbage for the most part. The spike grenade I thought I could use like the lightning ones but it does no damage and people simply walk out of it. Suppression grenades are likewise pretty useless. The magnetic ones are a guaranteed void kill but the problem is it seems 60-75% of the time they don't stick or they only follow a target for a bit before missing completely.
I don't have a void primary and the only void secondary I have is Efrideet's Spear, which just isn't practical to use on most of the crucible maps for void kills. As of right now I'm stuck mainly having to wait on the heavy ammo to use my Against All Odds, which I can normally go on some nice streaks with to build up points. The problem is other wise I get killed 3-4 times in a row and all those points vanish. The heavy ammo just isn't up enough and when it is half the time one teammate grabs it before anyone else can. I just can't seem to maintain a good point balance and it seems like I'll never get this bounty done. I've tried getting it on my Warlock but it is never offered when the missives pop up. Just seems I'm destined to keep getting it on my titan.
Anyone that has done this on their titan how did you do it? Is there really no other way than to just get a void fusion and camp? I think that is just my biggest problem is no void fusion/shotgun and I have to try to basically quickscope with my sniper which hardly ever works out well.
Edit 1: Thanks for all the advice so far. I've managed to get about 36 points through 4 matches just trying to snipe and grab heavy when I can. Hoping I can grab a void fusion at some point.

Are you still having trouble? Keep at it Guardian, you can do this! I consider myself a average at best player when it comes to PvP in Destiny. I'm a PC gamer and Destiny is the first FPS I've played with a pad in about 5 years so the chances are, you are probably better at the shooting in this game than I am so if I can do it, so can you. I completed the entire bounty in one evening of about roughly 3/4 hours at the very most. I had the bounty in my inventory for quite a while however knowing about the void crucible stage I decided not to do it until I had the correct tools at my disposal. Firstly I made sure I had a full void load out. My primary was Atheons Epilogue autorifle. Swordbreaker for my secondary and Truth/Corrective Measure for the Heavy stuff. At least then I was sure that every time I got a kill it would be with void damage. I found that for the most part I stuck with the shotgun on the smaller maps as it was an easy kill in close quarters. You'll be surprised how quickly you can get it done. My first few games i was getting about 19 points and then suddenly in some games I was getting best part of 60-90 points. Just stick at it. If you're having a bad few games, give it a rest and come back later. No point undoing the work you've done. Good luck

Just camp in the corner with a fusion rifle. Even if people will want to kill you, it's worth it

Do the big maps and use a sniper if need be. I did the bounty with a hunter and it was tough, just play conservative. You'll get it

Void lmg and void shot gun. Plus woc or ae if you got it. It is actually really fast using shot gun and lmg

I don't consider myself to be a great pvp player. For the exotic bounties I found to be a challenge in the pvp stage, I did those in the iron banner. I find that I do much better there. For this bounty I used a high impact ledgendary void fusion rifle maxed out and made sure my timing was right to get the kills. If you're a Titan or warlock also make sure you have your void super on. Good luck. When you make it and need someone for the last part, let me know as I still need to complete that portion.

Do vog, get Corrective measure. Do croata on normal and get swordbreaker, a void shotgun. Watch some pvp videos and take some notes. If you have a void sniper, thats cool it's just harder to use over a shotgun. Definitely get corrective measure tho. Keep trying and you will get it. Also you should quit games if you're playing against a really good team but don't worry bout getting thorn, just concentrate on getting better in pvp. And finally get Corrective measure lol. I did the bounty again using thorn, found verdict, an arc shotgun, and corrective measure as my only void.

Get void weapons, kill people with them.. I did that part in an hour and a half and all I had was sword breaker

I've done it twice on my titan. Run with armentarium with two magnetic grenades and weapons of light. It should be a one body shot kill with that sniper rifle. That machine gun wrecks. It should be pretty easy if you can manage your deaths.

I don't get how I got it. Thorn is probably one of the easiest bounties. My thing glitches out and got me 50 void kills a game. Used my 77 wizard and was good

Call one of your friend (real one) who play destiny and good in Pvp. Ask them to use your account and help you finish it.

Loadout: Word of crota Praedyths revenge if playing defensively, sword breaker if aggressively Truth or machine gun Use defender, since your class kills will count as void.

I just finished my third bounty. Took maybe 2hrs for the crucible part with a few breaks. Word of Crota/Praediths revenge/truth or corrective measure (I used truth for the rocket bounty at the same time). Word of Crota isn't my first choice in hand cannon. It is readily beat out at all ranges by different weapons. But it's void. It's really a last resort weapon for me running the bounty. I have a void spear. But with the Word, Praediths revenge works much better. You have to use the sniper as a primary, for almost everything besides close range. Find good sightlines, with decent cover that you can maneuver around to change your angle of attack. Don't stay in the same exact spot for the whole game, unless you are killing everything without dieing. Cover teammates, they will threaten the enemy and take heat off of you. Let your teammates lower their shields, and pop them. Obviously, don't wait on the shot long, but unless you get headshots, you will just give an assist. I started with a defender titan, but switched to striker. I wasn't controlling the zones with the defender the same as I did with striker (lightning grenade). As soon as I switched, I noticed a huge increase in my void kills. I could lower health with the grenade, then shoot once with word or PR and it was a quick easy kill. If you use the spear, use defender with weapons of light to give you a one shot kill. That is the only reason I would use defender. I did my first thorn bounty with shotgun (300), 2nd with fusion (331), 3rd I tried PR and did the same with my 4th. Now I just need to finish up one xyor and I will have 1 on each character. Out of the crucible parts, sniper was considerably faster for me than the other weapons.

1 ReplyI did the most intense mode alive in destiny INFERNO took me 1 day. Had to use a void fusion instead of a shotgun got it done though what's really hard is xyor with her wizard friends oh god it's a arc festival

I did this today on my hunter. My loading was word of crota, swordbreaker /ldr depending on map and corrective measure. Just camp at heavy traffic spots. Only show yourself if your sure you'll get the kill if not don't go for it. There's no point running out between everyone else they will just mow you down

I finished this bounty with an uncommon shotgun from the blacksmith along with a rate sniper, here's how... Instead of looking for kills, let the kills come to you.. Get a few mates who can keep you alive and prey for longer range maps to utilise my sniper... If you're dying 3-4 times in a row then yourself simply not worthy for thorn, I'm not saying camp I'm just saying work with your team and develop some individual skill to stay alive :)

what I did.. well, I got rare weapons that were void damage. believe it or not, it messed people up. there are rare shotguns that are void and those help a lot

Inferno so people can't see u, epilogue, sniper, corrective measure . Or play skirmish with a team. Skirm has less to kill, but less ways to die so if you're not very good that may help you. Good luck
