Removing the Heavy Ammo drop from killed enemy plays in PvP is a bad idea. It removes the risk/reward importance of it. Often a team will wait til everyone is within range of the heavy ammo box to grab it, so that everyone gets it. There is no risk to waiting anymore. If the other team is going to overwhelm you while you are waiting, you can grab the heavy ammo without any risk of the other team receiving any from you and your teammates deaths. It is also quite easy to get more kills with Machine Guns than it is with Rockets... but being conservative with your machine gun used to be a risk. If you got killed using it, you would give the other team heavy ammo (which they probably deserved if they took out an LMG with an auto rifle in a gun fight), whereas with rockets you could unload them fast for quick kills to ensure you weren't holding. You wouldn't usually get nearly as many kills with rockets though. You'll see way more Machine gun use in PvP now, and less overall heavy ammo as teams will attempt to grab both boxes! 4 or 5 players will stay at the box closest to them, while a 1 or 2 man team can attempt to quick grab the other. If they grab it before they die, they've done their team a huge favour, as it will be a one sided heavy ammo slug fest for the next couple of minutes.

I really like this change man. I see where you are comming from with many of your points but I think that this did not take away from the strategy of heavy it just changed it a bit. Now you have to protect your heavy even more because if you lose it the other team has heavy with no worry of giving you any. Making a move for the enemies heavy has legitimate pull now, it used to be you would need to be reking a team or just make a great play in order to steal heavy, now all it takes is a slight mis step by your foe and they lose heavy. My favorite part is that heavy no longer has such a huge part in matches. Before if you lost heavy battle it could cost you the game because the enemy would have so much heavy. This was especially apparent in Skirmish matches. I enjoy playing high level skrims, at times, and in those games we agree to not use heavy at all.

Meh. I PVE and PvP but I'm sick of PvP whiners dictating what Bungie decides to nerf and change. I don't whine because someone kills me multiple times with the same weapon or super or strategy, I adapt.
-
Honestly that's the one thing I didn't like from the patch
-
I run for the other teams heavy every game now I take it before they can then I shoot a rocket killing me along with them If I don't get heavy ammo No one does
-
I understand your viewpoint but I think less heavy ammo in a match will only be a good thing.
-
Well, they stated that heavy ammo shouldn't las that Long. They said heavy am I lasted so long that people would have heavy ammo while the now heavy ammo is coming in bound. I see both sides and I can't argue with you
-
I like it. I purposely go to the enemies closest heavy ammo drop and make sure i can waste it.
-
2 Repliesi kinda of disagree and i will explain why, normaly when i here the heavey ammo drops i would either A. go to there heavey ammo and wait for them to kill them at it as i know once they die heavey will still be there for me so in turn me and my team will own the 2 heavys this is a stratagey which can win you games if done well so now by removing this the games in theory should be alot more even which is a good thing. B. sometimes i would not go and risk to get any heavey i would just continue to hold zone b. as i know ppl will come rushing ith heavey which i can then pick up and control zone b even better as they brought me heavey, so now my tactics will be to leave zone b for heavy on my side. i thnk its different and it will make games alot closer imo. which in turn will make better gaming do you not think?

2 RepliesAll I have to say is I get about 150 lmg rounds when I pick up heavy. Do you really want the option for me to get the full 300 off of you ?
-
I could play half the game just using a hmg, and thats not switching weapons, its purely hmg kills. if you have a hmg and take out there team carrying heavy, you had enough ammo on the floor to last the game. il be honest getting heavy ammo with a hmg was easy/god mode, instead of nerfing hmgs and rockets they have reduced the ammo available, i think its a good idea, hmg stay fun and powerful.
-
Sorry you are not even slightly looking at the important part of the change which was the prevention of heavy sprees. Start with a good launcher kill their heavy guy. Use your rockets, switch to an lmg when their heavy threat is gone, pick up their ammo. Continue killing. It was OP as hell.

There's going to be even more Thorn/Suros/Vex usage now.. No need to keep Ghorn/TLord equipped in the event that an enemy drops heavy.

As someone who doesn't play crucible as much as I play raids and strikes, I AGREE 100%. Actually thought it was the WORST update by far of all the things they did. I felt like it was a reward for being good/lucky enough to encounter someone with heavy and survive, that you get their heavy. That feeling is now gone. Hate the move.
-
1 ReplyIm not happy with ANY of the changes to Crucible. Its like they have no fn idea what they are even doing.
-
I thought it was unfair, I'd get heavy, kill a few guys who had heavy, but not pick it up till later. I went on insane sprees this way, and that's unfair.
-
This I agree with.
-
6 RepliesHonestly i am happy with that update because i get tired of running into that one group who as soon as they get heavy go off and kill me right as i get heavy then keep heavy until next drop basically letting them spam heavy the entire match. It makes soo many people leave because the other team spams the heavy and none of us get to use it or lose it right after picking it up just for the enemy to get yours
-
Conversely i like the change because now i can run my against all odds with field scout and extra ammo from my boots and worry less about giving the enemy team my heavy ammo after getting rocketed in the face.
-
I like it that they don't drop any.
-
It was a great idea. I've had the most balanced matches in months tonight. What they need to introduce is a better Super counter move and nerf shotguns in PvP even more.
-
3 RepliesI am going to make a b-line for the other teams heavy ammo and hope to get it right before they kill me. Then they get nothing.
-
Personally I found it frustrating that heavy ammo became such a huge influence on the outcome of a match. I did enjoy getting to use the heavy of some player I killed but I would rather have heavy be available less often in a match because it is extremely easy to get kills with it and that gets rather frustrating. This makes heavy ammo more like a kill streak where the point is to pick it up and not die so you can use it as long as possible but once it's gone it's gone and you have to use other weapons that require more skill.
-
I see no problems with any of this.
-
I am that one man suicide mission to steal the heavy. Love my MIDA.
-
They should've removed drops from skirmish alone, and kept it in every other game mode.
-
it was annoying to play against people that saved heavy ammo packs till the end of the game so that they randomly kill you with heavy, winning easily. I would do this to people and it felt like a valid strategy, but it was cheap. I like this better. Makes gear a bit more relevant too. i.e.carry more heavy ammo perk
