Isnt it a general rule of thumb that on the first area of that strike you just skip all the guys in the room?

On strikes and weeklies I don't. Can knock out some bounties and use glimmer codes as well. Unless my group wants to or its like the second/third time doing the mission and we just want it over then I'll just run through it. I just follow what others do really.
