Guardians don't drop heavy in PVP anymore.

This is going to change the game a lot.

  • This is bogus because I mainly play Skirmish and Doubles... Yes heavy determined the game but if the other team gets both heavy and I kill one of them it can still be a fighting chance. Now it's more lop sided.

  • I primarily play Skirmish and I like this idea along with the shoot to loot perk not working as before. 3v3 anyway becomes just about heavy control 3 minutes after the game starts and from then on. The strat is the same; have someone on our team pop heavy with all of us standing next to it, only have one person pick it up and send the other two to super their heavy and collect it all. Shoot to loot 7 truth rockets and it's gg. It's fun for a while and I only usually lose about 4 games a week out of 50+ I play. It basically makes the game just about heavy and stressing over it. I'm glad 2 elements of that are reduced honestly. Even if it's less of an advantage for my play style I think it's good for the game

    • I love this change Too often pre patch pvp matches were determined by who got their hands on the most heavy. If a rocket user happened to take out 2-3 lmgUsers on the other team, that guy then had a surplus of rockets that could push his team to Victory singlehandedly. Now, heavy ammo spawns will give teams a chance to make some good plays to give their team an advantage but will no longer act as such a major contributor to a win or a loss. Focus will now be more on skilled shooting with primaries and secondaries as opposed to how many people get caught off guard with rockets

      • I like it! It's frustrating when I get heavy and then immediately killed and they run off with my ammo. I'm glad they changed that sh*t!

      • Jut wondering. Usually whenever there is a change at least some people are ok with it. Like with the matchmaking for nightfalls. Some people actually wanted that. Does any guardian actually like this change? I have only seen negative feedback for that change.

      • You should only get heavy when you get to a 10 kill streak

        • This is disappointing. Bungie feels the need to change something that wasn't an issue and nobody complained about?! DeeJ probably joined the iron banner last week and got his ass handed to him by people stealing his heavy and decided it was an issue. SMH BUNGIE.

          • This is the one thing in the patch notes that really bugged me, and I don't even play PVP that much. Who asked for this change? Why did they even think it was necessary? If you kill someone, you should absolutely get whatever ammo they were carrying. Spoils of war.

            • The heavy ammo constantly changing hands was excellent as it gave everyone a chance to wreak havoc. Now that all that heavy ammo just disappears, the game is going to be a whole lot more boring. Not to mention the fact that it makes the Crucible and Iron Banner's heavy weapon bounties even more difficult to complete.

              • Yeah. I disagree with that patch though. If you kill a guardian who was using a heavy, you should be rewarded with some heavy.
yes I'm that guy using thunderlord with field scout all the way from one heavy drop to the next.
• Yeah, that's often how I would only get heavy in a game. Usually die or be engaged away from the spawns so never there to receive any. But if I could outplay an over-confident person who has heavy, then I could score a bit for myself.....till someone else takes out my over-confident ass! Ha ha! I think thats a bad move, now the best players, and full parties will be the only ones with heavy, dominating the field as they'll camp the spawns even more.

I'm fairly surprised this was added to the update. The heavy spawns and functionality seemed equal for both sides originally. Now the concern would be that only one team can completely manipulate heavy. For example, if one team member supers the opposing team right after picking up heavy, then that original team member's allies will be the only ones with heavy, with no way for the opposition to come across it at all...until the next heavy spawn, where the same situation can easily happen again. To be fair, I love the patch prospects otherwise.

                  • I hate this change. It's terrible. Before, you had to be more cautious when you had heave ammo. Now i'm sure we'll have kamikaze rocket attacks at capture points because you can get lots of kills with no threat of your ammo being taken. I'm all for whatever makes a game more strategic and require more thought, but I guess Destiny is all about catering to casuals, so this change shouldn't come as a surprise.

                    • When heavy comes instead of getting the one near your team sprint to the heavy enemy ammo. If you get it while enemies are firing at you just suicide!! Did that once at Twi'light gap LOL.

                      • I'm not sure how to feel about this. I liked the added angst of having heavy and trying to be careful not to die with it. I also liked leaving enemy heavy laying around until the heavy was depleted on map then grabbing it. But not dropping it when killed will be nice. I will jump into some crucible later and see how it goes.

                      • I agree, it is excellent. The reduction in special drop as well, that will need some more tuning I think but it is going to right way.

Now I don't care if I go kamikaze at the enemy with my heavy, because they don't get shit if they kill me. Yeah, it takes some strategy out of the game. I don't see the point of this change.

                          • Well there's no risk and reward now when you defeat an enemy with a stronger weapon. However i think this was done for the sake of the heavy bug fix.

                            • I think its stupid. If an enemy gets to the heavy ammo chest faster than you, you should be able to shoot him down to get the ammo he took.
