Okay EX. You shoot your target in the head. Dmg pops up a yellow 1000 and a white with 500 dmg (explosive round) does that actualy makes it a total of 1500 dmg at your target?
Pls enlighten me fellow guardians

1 ReplyHere's a test for you. Take your fate bringer into hard atheon. Shoot a vex in the crit w\o explosive. Notice it doesn't one hit kill it. Now put in explosives. Notice it does one hit kill hit if you land a single precision hit. This we have concluded that explosive rounds deal more damage
-
No, it does more damage to the target and others around it, however it deals less precision damage, but that's usually made up for by the explosion anyways.
-
No you aren't a fool for believing that but all it does is spread out the damage
-
There was a post on reddit with actual statistics of Armor Piercing rounds and Explosive Rounds. Explosive does more damage.
-
Yeah. But I did testing and if you take it off the damage without it to the head is still 1500. It just causes some bonus damage to enemies around the target. I don't use it in favor of a possible other perk.
-
It's not a bazooka to the face. But it has its uses. Seems to stagger more.. Can shoot around corners with splash (good for scout) Also, the small blast area will also pickup ammo that falls inside the zone (if you got shoot to loott) Got a blue shoot to loot explosive round scout..used it forever

Explosive rounds are especially awesome when you don't hit a crit shot; you will do more damage to the body with explosive rounds than without.
-
I stopped using them because it stopped counting my critical damage kills.
-
The splash damage rounds up so you will sometimes get 1 or 2 more damage
-
You might get a bit more damage due to some favorable rounding but not enough to really scream about. But when I last tested which was a while ago damage on precision shots on normal mobs was significantly reduced. Body shots and precision shots on majors and ultras were all equal though. Things may have changed since I last tested though.

Explosive rounds split the damage into an area of effect. So by your example, without explosive rounds a yellow headshot would do 1500 without any other damage applied to enemies near by. With explosive rounds that white 500 that pops up can be applied to enemies that are nearby the one you are shooting.
-
U do less dmg with then. But good for grouped enemies but not single targets
-
There will only be a couple points difference in damage. Major difference is the splash damage. Your crit is lower but the potential for more overall group Dps is there, bc of splash damage. With that said I've noticed it is harder to land a crit with exp rounds. I didn't pay attention to overall damage on a body shot though. Which is more potent.

1 ReplyI think it does i tested this with mine Shot a dreg with explosive rounds and the white number and bonus yellow number came up for single dreg Then i turned them off and shot another dreg, same white number damage and no yellow So the yellow splash bonus is applied to the target as bonus, was about 50% for dreg might be less in crucible Let me know if u try it and get the same results
-
People have done research. Explosive rounds does cause extra damage. For example, my scout rifle is normally 73 dmg fror a crit in crucible. With explosive rounds i get 50 crit damage and 25 explosive damage.
-
Yes but if you take explosive rounds off you still get 1500. The benefit is that 500 can be applied to mobs. AFAIK

Bump. Need more feedbacks guardians

1 ReplyYes I believe so

Doesn't do any more damage with our workout explosive rounds it just splits up damage for area and target so damage is the same but you get outside damage for targets nearby. Works great on thrawls
