Whether this is true or not it I don't know, but this sounds very plausible. Destiny's story makes little sense. The factions don't do anything meaningful. And the loot system is frustrating. The story presented here explains why that is. Even if it's not true lots of us in the community want a non bs explanation for it and this might be the best we're gonna get.
