Current made plasma tvs don't have that problem anymore. Also a good plasma TV has way better vivid colors than led or lcd tvs.

When I was doing research on TV's I had read that newer sets all but eliminate burn in but like the OP said, it's the colors they use against the backdrop that is a killer. A dimming option would help at this point. And it woukd be pretty fun to try and remove the HUD entirely. .

Not true as mine is a 2013 panny vt60. Pretty high end. I was shocked when it happened. I just assumed the retention would go away like everything else. Before I realized it that hud had burned so bad that it was visible over everything. Almost Two months without playing and the screen has almost evened out. Took a lot of wiping and full screen Bluray content. Along with a Fresh calibration on my tv. As for other games, you are right. Have not had any issues with long lasting image retention for any other game. Except Destiny. That includes halo and Diablo which have huds that can't be moved.

I have an LG plasma that I bought in the spring of last year and it suffered clear burn-in at the hands of destiny in both the bottom corners, especially bottom left.
