Wha?! TLW is over rated a lot dude. People that use it just spam shots hoping for a kill.

But really tho, this weekend I went from a 1.34 k/d in control to a 1.42 using the last word the whole time

That's good that your k/d increased. Thorn got me close to 2,000 kills in the Iron Banner, and I was able to outgun TLW 80% of the time. I guess it's just personal preference.
