No one said he stays for three days.
He arrives at 4am Friday and leaves 4am Sunday. Exactly 2 days.
You are confused with the fact people say he comes on the weekends and naturally assumed they mean all of Sunday as well.

It sounds to me like you have not been playing since the game launch because back then he was here for 3 full days not just 2.

I've been playing since launch and its always been exactly 48 hours except for the time psn and xbl were under attack. That time it was extended a few days
