Cheesing=using game mechanics, flipping them on their heads and taking advantage of it. A cheap way to complete an encounter, but not unfair.
Example: Pushing off Templar.
The AI was designed to walk away from AoE effects, therefore cheesing can't be compared to cheating(as some people seem to not understand).
------------------------------
Cheating=taking matters into your own hands to get an unfair advantage
Example: The kid who got his characters deleted.
Now I hope people understand that the "you have cheesed Templar and Atheon before, so why should the kid get banned but not you" argument is based on very thin air and would not convince any smart person(sadly there are alot of dumb people on here)
Thank you for taking your time, and may the RNG gods bless you with all the horrible DLC exotic gear except for Obsidian Mind.
EDIT, ATTENTION HERE BECAUSE SOME PEOPLE CANT UNDERSTAND: Mate. Let me tell you a story. I did not make the post to post some examples of cheating and cheesing. I made the post to explain differences between the two. I didn't make this post to prove the people on the kids side wrong. I used the kids situation as an example.
There is alot of confusion between the difference of the two and I'm trying to clear that confusion.

Cheating = gaining an unfair advantage through outside means (hacking, modding, etc.) Cheesing = Abusing existing game mechanics (pushing the Templar, making enemies despawn on the bridge, etc.)

People keep saying that kid cheated... Last time I checked he didn't actually cheat. Curiosity got the better of his 11 year old mind. But he was unable to follow through with the cheating due to the fact that there wasn't even a cheat to abuse that existed. "Was going to cheat" really doesn't count in my mind. If that "cheat" existed I'm sure there would be tons of people trying to look into it out of curiosity and or laziness.

9 RepliesSo what exactly did that kid do that's considered cheating?

Fail post.

1 ReplyYeah I was thinking this while reading all those bleed heart pro kid posts. There's a difference between legitimate cheating (like game codes), cheesing game mechanics, and out right hacking. It's like not knowing the difference between a little white lie and court fraud.
-
3 RepliesYou explained the difference but you didn't explain how the child "cheated." You just said "Example: The kid who got his characters deleted." Then went on to give more examples of cheeses. The kid was enticed by an adult with stories of a "glitch" to get characters above the base level 20 that Destiny allows. It is described as a "glitch" in the video. You know what else is described as a "glitch?" The heavy ammo "glitch" or how about players who "glitch" into blocked off DLC areas of Destiny and find currently unreleased ghosts and obtain a HIGHER GRIMOIRE SCORE. Does that last bit not sound somewhat familiar to what this adult told the child he was going to do for him? If the kid deserves to have everything of his in Destiny deleted based on that presumption then so does every player who "glitched" their way to a higher grimoire, which seems to be ever so important to some.

Whats thoughts do you have about holding checkpoints in the raids? Eg. At about 5 min b4 reset i sit in the gorgon maze 5 mins after reset a mate thats loged off joins me getting the checkpoint and the exotic chest bypassing the templar dups it on all his toons then lets me do same thing

16 RepliesCheating = glitching Crota to make him stay kneeling You can't ignore a cheat that a majority of this community exploited.

3 RepliesYour explanation of cheating made me laugh. Who was the kid gaining a unfair advantage over? You will say everybody that had to do it the right way or something along those lines. Take your response and it can be applied toward a cheese. Clown.

10 RepliesAfter laughing at a majority of the responses here, how many people have actually at least skimmed over the EULA?
-
Should have used the disconect cheat instead of the kid

-blam!-ING. THANK. YOU. I tried to explain this to some dumbass and he could not grasp it!

Yeah the kid was cheating he got what he deserved. It was not cheesing

You (and everyone else who believes cheesing isn't cheating) define cheating to be something very specific such that "cheesing" can be viewed in a different light. #DELUSIONAL

2 RepliesEveryone cheats. Delete everyone's characters

A better example of cheating would be players who use lag switches.

Trying to justify cheating... Lol

8 RepliesUsing hardware or software to influence or modify the original game, cheating. Using existing hardware and software in a way originally unintended, cheesing. You can't be held accountable for cheesing when it was programmed into the game....dev writes code...tests code...fixes code...gets told to finish that section today or find a new job, or remove lines 145, 9823, 12439-16376....code to cheese now created. It was written in/allowed. If they want to fix it, great...if not, it's part of the game. Want to be an honorable, elitest, prude of a guardian? Complain about how others play. Want to have fun and do what you want because its just a game and not real -blam!-ing life? Cheese or don't cheese... Want to mod or hack? So what...they are smart enuf to know the consequences. Still just a -blam!-ing game...
-
So your saying the crota kneel cheese was cheating? BTW I assume you haven't read the EULA at all?
-
Exploit in games cheeses until they patch them as long as you aren't lessening the experience of other players.
