I work 50 hours a week, and with Iron Banner always resetting the rank, I'll never be able to reach Iron rank 4. Bungie... with all respect, since the beginning in 2001 you have been my Heros of joy. But now it's just "DUST & ECHOES." Im sorry, but Instead of us gamers having control of progression like every game should, you guys are now "Dictating our Limits." Despite looking at the Destiny map and seeing our solar system, makes you "think" it's Sandbox gameplay. Very disappointed that I'll never max out my light level to 32, 39, and 42.

Me and my little brother work at a bar 12+ hours a day. We still both found time to get to rank 4 with about 2 hrs of gameplay each day

1 ReplyThis is why I use pve to rank up.

He good news is this latest patch 1.20 when it releases will double PVP marks and EXPERIENCE! So IB ranking will go faster. Not exactly twice as fast since the bounty experience won't be increased.

I hear ya, this IB was the first I actually tried to rank up in. I put in a decent amount of time, but without a solid fireteam I was losing a bit more than my fair share of the battles. Ended rank 3 after putting in a good bit of time, but not enough to get the helmet. Got a friend who got 3 characters to rank 5. Makes me wonder how people like that can keep jobs

Edited by J of Core: 5/15/2015 4:21:57 AMYou probably already know this, but be sure you always buy the buff. The other iron banner items help too (emblem, class item, shader), but the buff is the most important. And if you don't have much time to play, try to play on the last two days its available. The buff is a MUCH stronger multiplier then as opposed to early on in the tournament. Last iron banner I managed to rank two characters to rank 4 - the first I played a little every night and got there by the weekend. The second character I played on only the last 2 days and got to lvl 4 in just those last 2 days. So if u don't have a lot of time, I would recommend just playing at the end of the tournament and it takes significantly less gameplay time. Best of luck!

Private First Class Dustin Echoes! Best marine ever! As for Iron Banner, if you wait until Friday-Monday of an IB week to play, buy your buff, and are diligent about doing the bounties, it really doesn't take all that long to reach rank 4 or 5. That said, it isn't really Bungie's fault that your job keeps you too busy to spend a lot of time grinding on Destiny. Maybe its just not the game for you, considering your life circumstances currently. I don't think it's worth getting bothered over.

its easier than you think! you just gotta play every day for a little. then towards the end like saturday play a bunch because of the moddifiers

1 ReplyEvery day more percentage is added. And if you wear the iron banner stuff and emblem and you get the buff, it will not take long at all

5 RepliesI work 50 hour weeks. I'm about to hit rank 3, and probably rank 4 tonight. It's not hard.
-
I work 40 hours a week, have a girlfriend and have family responsibilities. And I was still able to reach rank 4 on IB. I only have about three hours a day to play and reached rank 4 Friday night. It was a grind for sure. And a little tiring seeing the same guns being used on the same few hand picked maps. But, running with my friends made it bearable, even enjoyable half the time. To rank up the IB reputation quicker, you gotta buy the xp buff, buy and equip the IB flag, shader and class item. And bring friends.

1 ReplyTowards the end of Iron Banner it gets much easier to level it up, so you could probably still get it done at the end, even with 50 hour work weeks. Otherwise though, I agree. We should have more ways to reach max light then just raiding with the occasional Iron Banner.
Also, his name is Lord Saladman, refer to him as nothing else.
1 ReplyEdited by Saudakar: 2/20/2015 11:32:49 PMI agree. I wish the Iron Banner would last longer, I might be able to get some of these cool weapons and armor. I just don't have enough time to achieve rank 5.

I have seen and played a lot of games all with the exception of this one reward players for hard work destiny is just the oppisite the iron banner stuff is no better than the raid stuff and its investment in time is simply put is beyond stupid they give players and entire week but the investment in time needed is about a week so if you have a life just forget about it

1 ReplyEdited by Gorilla Warrior: 2/21/2015 2:24:27 AMI work 40, have a 3 year old daughter, and am planning my destination wedding to be held in 58 days or so (April 18th lol). Started a day late and hit rank 4 last night. Haven't played since, but I imagine I'll be rank 5 before Monday morning without too much trouble Grinding for glimmer is gonna be what bores me to death lol. Iron Banner is fun. Surprisingly easier than normal crucible for me and I'm only level 29. I guess my maxed up for anything is just a beast. And until I got the IB shotgun, I was using a 267 damage purple one lol. Just do what I do haha. If you have a family, wait til they're in bed then sit in a nice big comfy chair next to a bottle of tequila and a shotglass in front of the tv and 3 hours later will feel like 45 mins haha. And bachelors def don't have excuses.

It's difficult to do with a full time job, but feasible. Takes 3-4 nights of an hour or two of play. But I can also function on 4 or less hours of sleep for a few nights in a week, so I may not be a good base case.
-
Bungies entire strategy with Destiny is artificially extending game time by dictating how we should play. I have a lot of hours logged in Destiny only because that's what's required with their bullshit progression system. Oh how I wonder how many hours were spent grinding and farming....ugghhhhhh.
-
I work 50 hours too, and have my little girl after work. Then the missus has to watch her shows... but shit I'm rank 4 already lol... you need moar skillz
-
4 RepliesI work 50+ hours a week and I have gotten to at least rank 4 in each and 5 twice. The buff from Saladin increases through the week. Doesn't take that long between ranks.
-
Get over it then getting rank 4 should not be your life goal
-
1 ReplyThe best you can do is plan your games for later in the week, when you get bonus reputation to Lord Saladin. Other than that, this game isn't made for people with no time. This game is meant for grinders who've got nothing better to do with their lives! :D

2 Repliesthought occurred to me to, bungie tried to advertise that they were for casual gamers, not wanting people to spend a ridiculous amount of time on destiny.... I feel like iron banners should be month long if they going to have resets, otherwise, it is definitely not casual, I tried first 2 days and said forget this, I'm hoping when the queens event is fixed to bungies liking, it offers same level gear as IB and will be much much more casual friendly
