Except wasting our time. Lfg and getting people off forums is the exact same random people we would be matchmaking with. there is no added accountability, people lie constantly about levels and items and having experience. Maybe a few extra afkers here and there but easy fix is add a damn timer.
If they really wanted to be frisky they could even add a cp matchmaking system where you can continue from whatever checkpoint you have and join others in the same area, incase you get a group that drops. This really isn't a hard concept.
Edit: some people seem to think this is about heroics. it's about raids. Strikes don't even have checkpoints.

1 ReplyThere's a fat difference, matchmaking doesn't allow me to be that douche that says LF 4 more Normal Vog Fresh Run, 31+ only!. Matchmaking let's -blam!-ing level 30s in the hard Crota raid, good luck pal, ur retarded.
ur not my dad!.. stupid ass -blam!-in.. ugly noodle head...
5 RepliesEdited by iceman17333: 2/20/2015 7:09:27 PMThere is a huge difference, its almost like you just open your mouth and poo comes out. Yes, poo. Use LFG and invite people to your chat party and have everyone join on your fireteam. Easy to check everyone out b4 the raid. Happy? Then start raid, if not kick and find a replacement. Matchmaking takes place AFTER you start the mission. No choice, no time for inspection, no time to make sure everyone knows whats going on, make sure everyone is appropriate level...etc.... So really? You think they are the same?

1 ReplyI agree and if its that much of a problem go play another game or better yet, if you feel you could create a better game, go prove it

1 ReplyI always do the Weekly Heroic immediately after the Nightfall regardless so this will literally have no effect on me.

1 ReplyMatchmaking: Can be paired with any noob that owns the game. Most likely an AFK person with bad guns and low grimoire. LFG: Can request specifics about what you want to play with. More likely to get more experienced players cause noobs don't know about lfg. Lot less noobs. ZERO AFK people.

3 RepliesOf course there's a difference. Namely, I have the choice to not use LFG. I don't have the choice to not use matchmaking if I want to run with less than a full fireteam.
-
except people in matchmaking go AFK alot. people in LFG normally want to get there shit done even if they suck. that and if people from LFG afk or suck you can kick them. destiny does not allow you to kick people in match made groups.
-
Except people can choose who they contact on off... Matchmaking not so much...

3 RepliesEdited by triplearod: 2/20/2015 7:44:09 PMof course there is I only want people with Gjallarhorns on my team and as the fireteam leader i can kick anyone that lies and does not have it.

1 ReplyYou obviously never formed a group since doing it trough the site is the ability to check gear etc idiot.
-
For me as long as 3 people are doing damage I'm ok over and done bungie bring the update

Yessss!

6 RepliesBiggest difference is that lfg is optional. Also, you can look up people on lfg so it allows you to be selective. Finally, accepting people into my fireteam also means I can kick them if they afk or somehow hinder my efforts intentionally.
-
I won't feel as guilty with matchmaking. LFG always makes me feel bad when I'm looking for two and I get seven replies in ten seconds.
-
i don't see why people are making a big deal about it. if you still want to look for a group you can before you enter the event. otherwise, you just matchmaking if you don't care.
-
Actually there is. If you can take the 5 minutes to go on lfg and find a group it atleast means you are semi serious about doing that activity. That's the difference. Matchmaking will mean you get the people just trying the activity out

The best way to do this is to put a bulletin in the tower. This bulletin should give you the ability to post your guardian and comments. Or if you have a group already and need someone. That's the best way to do it in my opinion.

8 RepliesCouple advantages of in-game match-making: - saves time - no liars (concering level) as groups will automatically be compsed of a similar level Saving time is the main factor here.
-
2 RepliesI think the afkers are going to be a real problem. That and the 27s joining the 30 strikes with their blue weapons is also going to be a problem. With lfg you have the option to kick a player that has gone afk. Matchmaking for normal strikes has a timer... doesn't seem to work though as afkers can just tap there controller and stay active. Or use a rubberband

I believe the idea behind LFG and #recruitment is that you do have to put effort into finding a group. The idea is to have you party up with others who are willing to put effort into finding a group as well. Those who are willing to put that kind of effort in to do the raids/nightfalls are probably a lot more likely to finish than those who just want to casually drop in/out. That, of course, isn't to say that there are no lazy raiders now, or that some shy people wouldn't be great partners, but I think those would be exceptions rather than norms. The "well I once joined a group that ________" or "but my friend who is awesome can't raid!" anecdotes are also exceptions. I wouldn't care if matchmaking ended up in raids, but I can't say I mind that it's not there. I don't really want to join matchmade raid groups to find 3 afkers when I know I can go to recruitment now and make one in which nobody will do that. If the matchmade option is created, making an LFG group might become quite difficult, seeing as how many gamers may take the path of least resistance and simply use the matchmaking.
