Well that honestly sucks.
I come to destiny from other MMORPGs, where scamming is a big thing.
Trust me, I've warned so many people about sharing accounts or not double checkin gold/items that they were to recieve by a trade.
Example: 200'000 gold instead of 2'000'000,
Low tier item that looks the same as the wanted item but is worth 100g instead of 1'000'000g.
And most of them have been scammed anyways despise the warnings.
At least you learned something, take it positive

That exact thing happened to me back in the days of diablo 2 over an item I spent far too much time trying to acquire. Long story short, I learned my lesson never to trust anyone from the internet who I don't know personally. People who scam for the sake of personal gain (entertainment in this case) should be barred from the game which they do it on.

Well I'm not saying you should just trust no one. I did share accounts that were worth a couple 100 dollars (the latest one being worth 1100USD, not even kidding, I sold it over paypal for that much) with certain people. It was quite a funny experience. I had been sharing accounts with one of these two persons for over one and half a year. We knew eachother one week when we started sharing. I'm just trying to say not all people are bad. But there are the few people that will actually try to get a hold of your items or accounts. But this shouldn't really be a problem in destiny as I see it, especially since there is no trading and no real need / motivation there to share an account.

I just think that you should treat anything you invest a lot of time and effort on like it's part of your wallet. I would only entrust my personal investments of any kind with close friends unless they meant little to me.
