Please, let's list what games we've played over the longest time span. I'm not saying during one sitting or constantly, but games where you kept coming back long after you dominated it. There are many games that I completed and traded. I never intend on playing them again. I do have my favorites that I doubt I'll ever get rid of. Do you have those favorites? Why do you keep coming back to those games?

The last of us. I've played through the storyline at least 30 times
-
Nexus, kingdom of the winds. Since 1998. Guines book of world records for longest running mmorpg. Took me 13 years to get Ee San. ... Shout out to my carnage host crew..if you play destiny

Nba2k9-Nba2k15

I still play Pac Man, Donkey Kong, Burger Time, Pitfall, Centipede, and even Asteroids - all original ROM versions. If we are talking console games, then Dragon Warrior would be my longest running. Have probably beaten it at least a dozen times, and am doing a playthrough now, again - along with Final Fantasy II.
-
Destiny by far.
-
LittleBigPlanet 2 and Battlefield 4 (despite the bugs)
-
Either Crono Trigger, Morrowind, or Mass Effect 3.

Skyrim... stopped playing the story itself to build a house and raise a family. Lol Spent so much time chopping wood and blacksmithing nails I forgot just where yhe heck im suppose to go. FF7 ...I liked the whole nodes idea and moving the orbs around. Kept trying to perfect that.

Patapon, I played the series all the way from elementary school to high school, where I am now

Edited by Liqvid Courage: 2/17/2015 9:54:23 PMMMO - Ultima Online. Cancelled after 13 years having done basicly everything the game could offer. Still on of the best pvp games out there but way dated on graphics and ui Non-MMO - Crusader Kings 2 (have over 1200 hours on gamers gate and another 200 on steam). Nothing like it for RPG, intrigue, diplomacy and an AI that can decimate you if you let your gaurd down we other it be you Vassal, Leige Lord or foreign rival.

Edited by Tobito_TheGod: 2/17/2015 9:52:13 PMHalo 3 and Reach, Gears of war 1-3, Borderlands 1&2, Rachet and Clank series, Destiny, Mortal Kombat 9, Tekken 5/6/Tag 2, Gta sa/4/5 Mario Kart 64/Dash/Ds, Super Mario 64. I do about 2-3 Mass Effect playthroughs a year as well.

Destiny
-
Modern Warfare 2 with 32 days logged and over 140,000 kills

Diablo 2, likely followed by Borderlands 2 and Diablo 3. I am a loot junkie and these games supply them in plenty.

Edited by Jonathan Howard: 2/17/2015 10:01:24 PMWoW, 3.5yrs, everyday, until I finally burned-out or at least felt I'd reached enough played time to say 'that's enough'. That was vanilla to the end of Lich' btw. Why did I play? Loads to do - and that includes vanilla, even close to launch. The game had critics from the outset but kept pumping-out new content, improving, listening to players. Plus it never felt less than a seamless, always running and vast open world. It was somewhere to visit and escape to. Would I play again? I've been tempted. Thing is that WoW was also people, who I've now lost touch with, and the ghosts of good times (and bad times) spent with them would haunt me if I went back. I ran a few large guilds so that kind of thing tends to happen. It was still the best gaming experience I've ever had - although oddly not the best game I've played. I love narrative and what a game can mean, what it 'says' I suppose, so the best game I've played would still be The Last Of Us. I know I'm inviting hate but as a comparison with Destiny, on a Destiny forum at least, I'd say Bungie haven't come remotely close to matching either of the titles that I've just mentioned, for the handful of reasons I've given.

Edited by Moot: 2/17/2015 9:50:48 PMMass effect trilogy/halo series, buy destiny is fast approaching the #1 slot.
-
I put an absurd amount of time into Gears of War 3. I feel like I could still wall bounce shotgun dance with the best of 'em.
-
TF2 since beta
-
Think I played Everquest longer than I played WoW.. both I played for at least 5 years.
-
I've had an "Idle Click" style game running in the background on my work computer for about 5 years almost 24/7. Does that count? Other than that, I put a ton of hours into Assassins Creed Black Flag. (Very disappointed with Unity) But still Destiny just beat out that. Let's see with Dragon Age.

Halo Reach. Quite simply, one of the best games of all time.
