Why we don't ever get to see Master Chief's face.
I've seen lots of threads on several forums whining about never seeing what Master Chief looks like. I did some thinking on the subject, and it came to me. Maybe they [i]can't[/i] show us what he looks like. My personal theory, is that "John 117" isn't his real name at all. I think he's Cthulhu. If you don't know what Cthulhu is, google it (or, you can wait until the last paragraph where I give a brief explanation).
What I think happened, is somehow, the UNSC blackmailed it with pictures of 'him' with an underage girl, and contained it in that armor to do their bidding for some kind of experiment (Top Secret Project: OMG ITS TEH MONSTER!!1!ONE!11!eleven!). All files on the subject were eradicated, and eventually, Cthulhu got used to being "The Man's" attack dog sometime during the war against the Covenant, and adapted to human life, taking the name 'John 117' ('he' got his "last name" from a license plate 'he' saw earlier that day).
Now, it's said that anyone who looks upon Cthulhu's image, immediately looses their mind. So, if "John" were to ever take off his helmet on screen, every Halo player in the world would instantly go insane, and mass chaos and anarchy would spread across the planet in a matter of hours. There's my theory. A little long winded maybe, I tried to keep it short. I'd like to hear what other people think about the subject.

If you've read the books all spartans are extremely albino because they are in the suits most of their adult lives or indoors. This could have something to do with it.

The master chief is a beast. You don't need to see his face to understand.

Bungie wants the players to feel like they are in the suit. and everyone knows thAT mark VI armor is not compatible with the xbox vision camera :P
