If Gravemind was a boss in Halo 3, how would you have to fight him?

COME UP WITH AND IDEA ON HOW YOU WOULD HAVE FOUGHT GRAVEMIND AND PUT IT IN THIS THREAD! Rules: He has to be on the level the covenent after you kill truth You have to kill him in a reasonable manner (no spartan lasers or flamethrowers) you cannot really kill him just kill the flood he is controlling in that room A common assumption was that you got to fight gravemind in Halo 3, well now we know you can't. However, this thread is to describe how Gravemind would have worked as a boss fight, at the end of The Covenent level right? Here is how he (in my opinion) would have worked: The four tentacles will sort of be the things you have to kill, you must shoot them enough times to kill them, but the area you need to shoot will look like it has a tumor in that area, destroy all 4 quickly but you get a short amount of time to do it because the tentacles retreat and a wave of flood pours in, incase you are low on ammo, they will carry brute spikers, plasma rifles, smg's and just about anything DUAL-WIELDABLE (The flood forms will be Human and brute only though there will be ALOT) when you kill the wave, the tentacles will appear again and the "tumors" you missed will still be there, kill them quickly if you do kill the tumors you only have to do it one more time, a wave of flood will come at you but they will be infected Elites and pure flood forms this time, not human and brute forms. kill the tumors again and you beat gravemind (but not really kill him) Also the tentacles will make a swipe at you to cause heavy damage. Remember I came up with this myself, try to see if you could come up with how he would be a boss on The Covenent. (Not on Cortana) [Edited on 07.25.2008 2:49 PM PDT]

 •
Posted by: D3V0NST8R Gravemind 1 Cutscene before fight: Arbiter just kills Truth, and a tentacle identical to Gravemind's swerves over the ground that Chief and Arbiter are on. Gravemind pushes itself up onto the long platform Chief and Arbiter are on. "What shall we do now?" Arbiter will say. "It's obvious, kill it." Battle: As soon as the battle begins, lots of flood combat forms jump and strike at you, so you have to kill them all. Then Gravemind begins to fight you. One of the Flood forms had a spartan laser, so its a smart idea to look for it to pick it up. After Gravemind does 4-5 attacks at you, he taunts you by saying "Is that it?" or "Have you finished your show?" or "I thought you were stronger." and you will need to shoot his mouth to do 30% more damage to him. You would do the most damage with a spartan laser, a firebomb grenade, or a spike grenade, even deadlier while he is taunting.. Once inflicting enough damage on him, he will return to cover to regenerate and waits until you fight off the 40 flood combat forms that jump at you. One of them wielded a rocket launcher. Same tactic as before, shoot or grenade his mouth once more, and battle 30 combat forms. One of these 30 wields a spartan laser, and another wielding a rocket launcher. Use both to your advantage once these 30 are beaten. A rocket launcher and a spartan laser are two weapons both enough to do lots of damage to Gravemind. If you hit him enough with these two weapons, you will beat him. Cutscene after the fight: After fighting Gravemind for a long amount of time, only 5 combat forms strike and Chief and Arbiter. One of them had a rocket launcher. The floor vicinity that Gravemind was on was starting to become fragile. Chief catches the rocket launcher and fires at the vicinity Gravemind was on, which makes him(Gravemind) fall to an undetermined doom. Gravemind 2 Cutscene before the fight: Chief and Arbiter have defeated Spark, however several tentacles had gripped hold of the floor and Gravemind carried himself up onto the area. Halo still hasn't been fired yet, and this fight would allow the detonation of Installation 04-2. "Your calculations were wrong, doom was not amidst my fate. I shall rid of you forever more." That saying enters into the fight. Battle: Gravemind sends pure forms at you, the number could be any. After you fight them off, you will have to fight Gravemind. Its the same tactic as before, but this time he has more strikes then before. For example, one strike is where he fires a swarm of spores at you, another is where he uses dead flood bodies and throws them at you, and each body will take 10% of your shields away. After he does any amount of strikes he will taunt you. Some new taunts are "It seems you have given up. I believe you want to die fast." or "With no strike I leave you with death." It is the same tactic as before, althought this time you start with a Spartan Laser. The Shotgun is for killing off Flood pure forms or the spores thrown at you. However each time there is flood sent to strike you, it will be the same amount. As said above, it is the same tactic. Shoot him in the mouth with your spartan laser while he is saying a taunt. Cutscene after the fight: Arbiter is luring the Gravemind towards where the beam is fired. Chief quickly inserts Cortana's chip into the system to get Installation 04-2. As the beam fires up into the sky, the beam is shot through Gravemind, which causes Gravemind to implode.
You've got to admit, thats a really good idea. Especially since I made it. Who would agree with me? P.S. I'm reporting anyone who says "China wants it's wall back."

 • I really don't think a Gravemind boss fight could be conceived by me. Halo's a run and gun game, making it hard to come up with a type of fight that would be sufficient as well as fighting in the same playstyle. The big ideas are the ones from RPGs where you slowly chip away at their health, or something similar, and something similar to Gears of War style except in First Person. As you can clearly see, it's kind of hard to make a boss fight out of Halo 3's run and gun play style.

 • I think it'd be on the level HALO. Right after killing the moniter he'd spring forth from the ground and cause all kinds of flood spores to waddle down the bridge towards you. With only limited ammo left you would have to rely on fallen enemies weapons. After killing scores of flood combat types and disabling one of the gravemind tentacles, you would have to jump on it a run up to the "body" of the GRAVEMIND, and with your last two smg's you would then have to destroy the main "eye"/ "heart" thusd saving the galaxy from iminant danger and ridding the universe of the flood forever.

 •
Posted by: Frost Covered I kinda pictured a multi-level MASSIVE boss fight, as in when i thought this up you would have to say... carry a bomb down a massive tunnel/cave/crevass and fight your way down to the base of the gravemind, slowly weakening him on the way down until you can get close enough to run up and - one to two - climb up him till you can shove grenades/a bomb down his mouth OR plant charges around his main biomass, both ways you have to escape the cave/tunnel/crevass before the bomb/charges go off and blow up the whole area/flood the area with flood goo(lol, ironic) Iduno, from the moment i first heard the rumor you would have to fight gravemind... i was stoked... and as soon as that big "hey im the gravemind swoosh i could crush you but wait ill run away and send two flood to kill you bye" part happened... i was convinced the Halo 3 story was not as good as the first two
see, something like that is what I am looking for my idea would have fit in the storyline much easier though. as he could not build himself on the ark in time [Edited on 07.25.2008 2:58 PM PDT]
