Why do people like anime?
Why do ppl like it? What is so special about it?
I've only watched Avatar, Dragon Ball Z[spoiler]does that even count?[/spoiler] and Digimon, but I don't see anything special

I think it's because there's something for everyone who watches it. Giant mecha? Yep. Sports? Sure. Historical drama? Yeah. Anything that can be named will probably have an anime about it.

BUT since anime is seen as different to most people, the fans of anime develop an elitism behind it because they hold onto several good shows and claim the whole style is godly when it is no better than many other styles. In short, hipsters.

I like it because there is something for everyone. Horror, comedy, drama, action ect. Most of the stories are engaging and suck you in. Also I find that you can do more in them then you can in a movie, without a super high budget.

There is really nothing special other than narratives coming from a different cultural perspective being expressed via animated motion picture. I would recommend viewing Monster. It is a phenomenal series. Monster really is nothing like DBZ, Naruto, Bleach, One Piece and whatever other popular shonen you can think of.

You need better anime to watch. Start with Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood or Yu Yu Hakasho. If you wanna go a little more extreme try Death Note. A little more gory go with Tokyo Ghoul or Parasyte. Hope you change your mind about anime!
