You don't get rep for losing matches in Iron Banner. You have to win matches and get kills to rank up.

You could get zero kills and still win the match though.

That's true. Not likely tho. You'd have to luck into an amazing team. Even then, it's hard to rank up in iron banner without doing the bounties as well.
