I just wanna get yalls opinion, I'm only a lvl 9 hunter I just started the hunter last night. I play more PVE than anything...which subclass do you think is better for PVE??

The Blade Dancer is Really good, i would rank that up all the way. Gunslinger is really not that great for PVE but it's alright on PVP. Bladedancer in My opinion is better in Both PVE and PVP. I personally like running a hand cannon, auto rifle or scout rifle on my hunter.

Depends on what you're doing
-
If I want to be invisible I use blade dancer
-
3 RepliesGunslinger is a subclass based for someone who primarily uses a handcannon while I find using a scout rifle is better for a blade dancer

One class focuses on precision while the other focuses more on agility. If you want to think more In typical mmorpg classes think of gunslinger as a ranger and bladedancer as a rogue. In the end it comes down to your personal preferences and how you want to play. Gunslinger is obviously the more precise one, it's abilities (throwing knife, golden gun, chain of woe, gunslingers trance) cater and reward careful aiming. I personally prefer this class overall Bladedancer is more up close and personal with its abilities (arc blade, blink strike, invisibility, blink) catering to more to getting up close and striking your enemy before they can react then getting out. I'd say try out the basic abilities and decide for yourself what you like. Remember that the hunter's supers are a bit more situational since you have to either aim/chase your opponents to kill them, plus you don't have too much protection. Good luck, have fun

Gunslinger is more useful in PvP because you can take out a blade dancer in one accurate shot. Blade dancer is incredible invaluable when playing in the raids but definitely not as useful when playing in PvE.
-
Gunslinger for sure
-
I started my hunter with every intention of going gunslinger, but ended up going bladedancer instead. I'm not a huge fan of the melee stuff, despite the class' focus on it, but invisibility and blink are great tools for a sniper.
-
I think both are great for pve. Gunslinger is good for normal strikes, VOG raid, and easy pve. Blade dancer is more useful for nightfall, weekly heroic and the crota raid. Personally, I prefer playing with the gunslinger. They have better gun perks. Being able to reload instantly, fast reload and a power tripmine are great.

gunslinger is boss. however, all depends on play style, just keep in mind gunslinger has more uses tho. bladedancer is good to have for the times u need invisibility
-
Gunslinger is way more fun and arguable more useful because of orb generation, but Blade Dancer survival and invisible medic contribution can be key for a pinch.

Edited by Ringo: 2/15/2015 7:14:29 PMBladedancer takes a lot of practice, trial and error to maximize its potential. It's excellent at crowd control, I could argue it's the best in that area. Most bosses you won't use arc blade on and if you do you better have their attack timing down cause your fireteam gonna be piss you died at the bosses feet. While I prefer bladedancer in PvE and Pvp, gunslinger is very useful in raids and strikes that you need to pack a punch on single targets. Gunslinger beats the dog shit out of people in Pvp as well.

4 RepliesI won't really disagree with anyone saying Gunslinger for PvE here, but it's worth considering that Bladedancer has more options to regen health for survivability. Hunters are a bit squishy by nature, so having the Hungering Blade perk on Bladedancer coupled with Fast Twitch can get you a lot of immediate health regeneration.
-
Bladedancer is better in the long run. Upgrade it at least to the shadow jack perk
-
I use gunslinger mostly because chain of woe/ gunslinger trance is like giving all guns zen moment and outlaw
-
2 RepliesI prefer Bladedancer in both PvE and PvP, because I love the arc bolt grenade and the invisibility. However, Gunslinger is the better overall subclass. Arc Blade is almost useless in high level PvE activities.
-
1 ReplyI go with gunslinger but i would level up bladedancer to where u can crouch and go invisible. In nightfalls its great to switch over to BD fast and revive a teammate in a tough spot. Adding in the go invisible with a melee makes reviving easy. For higher level pve gunslinger us better cuz of golden gun. Try to get the apocaphage symbiot helmet it gives u four shots with golden gun

Edited by Kage Goomba: 2/15/2015 6:55:20 PMBaldedancer - invisibility/close quarters rappid-multi-target combat with high risk/adrenaline thrills. Gunslinger - Sniper/Long Range combat with one shot wonder abilities but only up to a max of 3 targets (+1 if you get the right gear) and other fun little things like throwing knives/trip mines. Honestly? Do both.....you'll be able to choose depending on the situation.... pick one..max it out...and then go do the other on same char.

I think it's preference. My friend 99% plays Bladedancer PvE and PvP where I am the opposite. The biggest question is do you want stealth capability or not. I don't care. My friend does.
-
8 RepliesI know this may seem like a dumb question, but do yall like scout rifles for hunters? I ask this because I prefer scout rifles over any other primary weapon. I don't do too great with hand cannons
-
It depends. Gunslinger is typically better for everyday fighting. Bladedancer with high agility and hungering blade is typically what I choose for running bounties. Bladedancer with stealth build is what I choose for nightfall strikes and some parts of Crota's End. Really, I enjoy playing with hunter builds for different situations. It's fun. I would consider it a mistake to only use one or the other subclass.
-
Gun slinger. Blade dancer has its advantages so you will need to level it up and practice using it, but 90 percent of the time gunslinger is the better option.
-
Gunslinger. All I use. All you need
-
Gunslinger. Leaders of pvp
-
Gunslinger. Bladedancer is only good for Crota's end.
-
I prefer gunslinger. The special on blade dancer isn't great for PVE. With the gun you can take down the shields on any major or ultras and you don't need to move anywhere to do it. The only time I use bladedancer is for the thrall run, where I use it with the extra agility enabled. So much faster and the thralls just avoid you for some reason even without you being invisible.
