IB regens ammo so you can hang back and snipe indefinitely and not have to worry about ammo synthesis. This is a boon in some cases. Also, if you run out of ammo with a different special weapon, you can switch to IB, regen ammo and switch back to restock. Versatility plus power is what makes IB so good.
