Thorn Bounty in the Crucible
Good afternoon, fellows! I have drawn the Thorn bounty and I'm at the part where I need to get roughly 100 kills with void damage in the crucible. The caveat, of course, is that death cuts my progress in half. I do have a Void Walker but I pretty much suck at PVP.
So, does anybody have any suggestions on loadouts, match types, etc? I have been at it for two days and I have a whopping 18 points of the required 500. Thanks for the help.

I'm assuming you got this done but if not then here's what I did. I was in the same boat as you until I got Word of Crota as my primary. Then I used that, void fusion rifle and a void machine gun. Took a few hours but got it done in one day on a Hunter. Having a good void primary is key as then your kills and assists with that weapon count and offset any deaths. Now I need help with Xyor

2 RepliesI spent my weekend in the crucible mostly. I was taking care of the Invective, Bad Juju and Thorn crucible bounties for the second time. This time it was with my Hunter which does not have a void subclass. I relied heavily on Void Fusion Rifle and Rocket Launcher. Control, in my opinion, is the best way to tackle these bounties. Having a reason or point other than obliterating fellow guardians allow for many engagement opportunities without boredom. My biggest tip, as a fellow less than stellar pvp'er, is to be critical of your engagements. Just don't charge in there guns blazing and expect to mow the entire team down. Draw them to you where you can control the direction they come at you from. If a skirmish feels bad, retreat and flank. It is amazing how many kills you can rack up just putting a little thought into where and under what circumstances you engage an opponent. Not all your kills are going to come from your Void weapons. I had a bunch of kills with my non-void primary. The best way to move the Thorn bounty along is get most kills with a void weapon, but ending with a positive K/D ratio is the biggest boost. Even a .9 or 1.0 rating moves that progress along nicely. Now I am ready for the LVL 26 Summonig Pits strike and have another Invective and Bad JuJu at my disposal. (Exotic Shard Time!)

Your best bet is to use a fusion rifle with void. Easiest way to kill an enemy due to the possability of a one shot kill. Other than that snipers. BTW its 5 points per kill -2 per death. -Happy Hunting!

Praedyths revenge all the way, I rarely pvp but got the crucible part done over the weekend, all thanks to the aforementioned sniper rifle. Good luck!

Atheons Epilogue for primary Hide and Seek-42 shotgun or a Fusion rifle And Truth if you have it or one of the heavy's you can purchase from the tower. Personally a machine gun is what I would go with just cuz you have a little more ammo to play with if you use it right

Only use void damage weapons. It doesn't help at all if you get kinetic kills. Personally, I used a low-zoom sniper exclusively for the duration of the bounty, as it is versatile enough for me to use in most situations. Nova bomb will be your friend, and never forget your grenades.

Get your hand on a rare void shotgun or fusion rifle, that worked for me

Here is my suggestion. Take it with a grain of salt. Primary: Word of Crota or Atheon's Epilogue Special: Praedyth's Revenge Heavy: Truth That's what I would use. Work with what you have. Best of luck, Guardian. Show no mercy.

Edited by theEsco: 2/15/2015 9:30:05 PMI thought I sucked at PVP, then I used a void shotty in control, and found out I was actually pretty good. I'm sure it had nothing to do with shotguns being overpowered in pvp. Hahaha I found that sniping takes too long. Shotguns allow you to stay closer to the combat, but then you can just camp corners so your not always in the middle of a crossfire. I'm sure many people cried at my noob/cheap tactics but whatever, I got thorn now. Just keep at it. Thorn is a lot of fun once upgraded.

I just finished that section yesterday and my typical K/D in the crucible is 0.75. I'm terrible. Just use a void pulse rifle (I used a blue one) and hang around the capture points in control. Took me about 3 hours. Let me know when you've finished. I have to kill xyor the unwed still.

1 ReplySince you can't just run out to a Bass Pro Shops & pick up a Word of Crota, find a good fusion rifle and heavy machine gun. Use the smaller maps, camp at the control points and learn to use your radar really well. You'll find that if you're not much of a PVP player, this bounty will actually help you get better.

1 ReplyI suck bad bad bad at pvp but was able to finish in a few days. Word of Crota 77 wizard fusion rifle was my main weapon that I used for 90% of my kills.the rest were done with truth if you have it or try for corrective measure for the heavy. I didn't camp or anything like that I ran all over the map just did it with some guys from the clan. Stop playing if you're having a really bad spree and come back in after a break. it takes a bit but it's worth it

I used voidwalker. I also equipped all void weapons. A void primary, special, and heavy. Then i never ran anywhere and crouched as much as possible. Use the radar and let ppl come to u, dont go to them. Kinda like camping but u dont have to stay in the same place, just walk around. I suck at crucible and it took 21 matches for me to complete this bounty.

Wwallen is right, it will make you better. Play control defensively. Don't chase kills, let them come to you. I did it with a blue fusion rifle and a blue heavy machine gun. I also like the have friend that let you kill them idea. Hadn't thought of that one.

Hey there! Here's how I can help. Go do the vault of glass and get the weapons known as Atheon's Epilogue (assault rifle) and Corrective Measure (machine gun) both do void damage. Also use a Void Fusion Rifle. If you have any, I recommend The Purifier (New Monarchy). Hope this helps! -NURDS
