So for the past 3 days I've been trying to solo Crota, but I can't even get past the first portion of it. Does anyone have any experience solo-ing it? I'm a level 31 Titan with suros, sword breaker, and song of it yut. I also have a filled upgraded saint-14 helm.
When I watch other videos I seem to be much slower than all the other examples on the Internet. I have the agility upgrade on suros and sword breaker. I can't seem to get past the 7-8 lamp. The thralls are just way too hot on my ass. I can't even turn around withiut them hacking me to pieces :(. have all the specs on agility, bastion, and armor of light.
Does anyone have any advice??

5 RepliesEdited by THEUNDEAD565: 2/13/2015 11:48:59 PMWhen I say all of this, please don't take it in the wrong way in any way, shape or form. That being said, I find that running through the abyss solo with a Defender Titan isn't the most optimal way to go about it. Having solo'd the raid multiple times on Normal, and having solo'd up to Crota on Hard, here are my recommendations: Setup:
Subclass: Striker. Grenade type: Pulse Grenade Melee Ability: This doesn't matter. I personally use "Amplify" but you can use the chance at AoE if you choose. I like regenerating my Fist of Havoc on a successfull Storm Fist kill though. Codexs: Codex II and Codex VI. Perks: Aftermath, Aftershocks, Unstoppable. Optional (but helpful!) things: Armamentarium: for two Grenades. Only use this if you don't compromise your level 31. High Discipline.
Running through: For proceeding through, run to the first lamp, and wrap around to the left of it, and continue onto the second lamp. Once you start to approach the second lamp, throw down your pulse grenade at the base of the lamp. Proceed to run into the Area of Effect that is caused by the Pulse Grenade, and attempt to clear out as many thrall that are behind you. The reasoning for the AoE is that very few (if any) thrall will follow you into the AoE while it is activated, leaving you in peace. Once this AoE runs out, you want to turn around and run towards the next lamp. At this point, it is up to you to decide whether you're going to wrap around the lamp, throw down a grenade and sit there, or drop your Fist of Havoc (this is just a longer lasting, larger pulse grenade). I like using the Fist of Havoc when I'm nearly overwhelmed or when I have to sit at a lamp for a very large time. It can be used to hide from the two knights that you encounter through this run. I would say at this point that the worst part about this, would be clearing out the thralls effectively, and that lamp just before you have to climb the hill to the right. If you need to, drop a Fist Of Havoc to keep that knight away, or wrap around that lamp to the left and run straight up the hill. This will clear a bit of weight and hopefully keep the thralls away from you. Once you get to the top of that hill though, you need to sit at that top lamp. Once you get to that last lamp, ignore it, hit the bridge with an AoE of your choice and activate the next encounter. At this point, you're going to want to either get on the rock to the left of the lamp (as if you're looking at the ogres from the bridge) before the lamp detonates or after. Either way, getting up there is crucial for the next part. After you get up there, just clear out the thralls and bid your time until the bridge is cleared. Notes:
-Those holes you run past that arn't gigantic (like the hole in the middle of the path in that one part) can be jumped over with ease. This can be a life saver as it puts some distance between you and the thralls. -AoE is your friend in this part. It really makes the difference. -Know where the large stretches of darkness/running are, so you can prepare before hand by clearing as much weight as possible. Here's a 3D image crafted by somebody (I believe from Reddit) of the Abyss encounter: http://i.imgur.com/k53gi3Q.jpg -At about weight of 5, the thrall can start to catch up to you if you don't have the +2 agility while holding this weapon (as the Icebreaker or Mida have). Either way, hitting that can end badly if the thrall are on your ass.
If you have any questions or anything, just reply here so I can help you a bit better. I edited my first post because I made it sloppily while I was on my phone. I (hopefully) cleaned it up a bit!

Use mida multi tool with your max agility setup, you can run the abyss even at x10 darkness no need to stop for a lamp :)

Striker is faster subclass and mida multi tool makes you crazy fast.

Edited by Crusty Vato: 2/14/2015 7:12:07 PMI did it last night without firing a single shot. Not even at the ogre. I did the second lamp jump. Have agility as high as it'll go with increased height jump, and any weapon than will give you +2 agility. I'll edit this with a link to the video. It's not me in the video but one of my clan mates. He taught me well. Edit: http://youtu.be/UBwr7IryNdk This is how I did it. My only change is that when you get up in the rock after starting the bridge and waiting for the ogre, wait until the ogre starts shooting at you, pop a bubble and sit there. As soon as the bubble is depleted, run off and hide behind the rock to the right(as you look at it) of the bridge plate. Watch out for any cursed thrall, and then make a run for it....takes practice, but you should be able to do it.

Max your agility use fate bringer if you have it , xur is selling icebreaker today I'd pick that up Bc that helps out allot with the firefly perk if your running striker use juggernaut and pulse/flash- nade I'd refrain from using your lmg because it slows you down ....... I'd be more than happy to teach you
