Does the Vex count as a "Special weapon", relative to reload speed gloves.
Title says it all. Basic question but forgot to test it out last night when I was playing and I'm curious.
Edit: If it wasn't clear what I'm asking it is this: When using the Vex Mythoclast, does wearing gloves that read "increased reload speed with special weapons" apply since it is in the primary slot, despite being a fusion rifle.
Edit: Have you guys definitely tested this? The Vex is in the special weapons Grimoire so I thought maybe...
Edit: Lol, just as many YES as NO. Just going to test myself and never waste my time with threads like this again. Thanks for the input but really it doesn't seem like people actually test things. They just make conclusions of their own and then repost it as truth regardless. But thank you all really for your time. I'll probably come stick a last edit on once I confirm.

Yes. Vex, UR, and NLB all count as Specials. They have a base upgrade that allows them to be used as a Primary, and they still count as Specials in the Grimoire. Well, not sure about the Mythoclast, but UR and NLB for sure.

1 ReplyI haven't tested this directly, but I can tell you one thing: I got the bounty from Eris to quickly kill X hive with special weapons. I completed it using the Mythoclast. My best guess is that the bounty looks at the weapon type, Fusion Rifle, instead of the equip slot. If your gloves work the same way, then they would indeed increase reload speed with the Mythoclast. However, I cannot confirm.

1 ReplyIt is a primary slot weapon but it is a good question because the grimoire categorises it as a special weapon. If I were to guess, I'd go with a special weapon because it's a perk that changes the slot.

Nope, the vex is a primary weapon and the reload speed is not affected by the special weapon reload perk.

1 ReplyI can't be sure, but I think that those buffs apply to the actual slot, and not the weapon. It does get a buff from armor pieces that grant them specifically to fusion rifles, so maybe.

2 RepliesThe answer is definitely yes. Test it yourself. Or go do the Eris bounty where you rapidly use a Special Weapon to kill 7 give or whatever. Try it using Vex :)

Like the last person stated it counts towards the special weapon bounty from eris. Its a special weapon that can be equipped in the primary slot so I would say most likely it would work. Only way to find out is try.

it does count as a special 100%, it can also be used in the kill 2 enemy at once with a fusion rifle bounty!

It might. If you have armor that gives more ammo for special weapons you'll notice more ammo for your vex.

Here's one way to test the theory. I already know the answer but for the ones saying "no it's a primary!", do your research and then come back and post. Next time Eris has the bounty for rapidly killing hive with a special weapon, equip the mythoclast and go kill some thralls on the dark below and you'll find that the mythoclast counts as a special weapon. Now this may not apply to the reload speed perk but I'd think it would considering it works for the Eris bounty.

You can complete special or fusion rifle bounties with it in those terms, but for reload speed or extra ammo it needs fusion rifle specific perks.
