Was there ever a reason given as to why they removed it? I think it would be so cool if they made the PR like it was before. It was nice to be able to slow people down when you had them caught in the plasma fire i.e. they couldnt rush you or get away easily. I think it would make the game a little more intersting and the PR a more coveted weapon.
If you recall in H1 the plasma rifle stood a fighting chance against the AR because of this and its shield depleting abitlities.
Would it improve the game?
Posted by: xX Coops Xx It's a shame that the Plasma rifle has been toned down so much, it should be a single weild weapon. If you recall Halo CE, a plasma rifle was the Covenant equivelant to an Assault rifle, and could easily hold its own against one. Now, it has gone from being the main weapon of the Coveenant to a little weak side-arm, that must be dual-weilded to get a kill on firepower alone.
Exactly. All weapons were good ways to kill; even the plasma pistol could kill in a fraction of the time then it does now.
Posted by: Meteorain007 I remember that the Ghost in Halo CE was very annoying, because it would slow you down and make it unable for you to escape. It was cool, but kinda unbalanced.
Yeah, made tanks too easy to kill. You could just circle around it the whole time. Driver dared to come out, die instantly from the crappy vehicle physics :D

Probably because the stun wasn't needed. the ROF has been increased, and DW is available. the Plasma Rifle also takes shields down much faster then it used to in Halo 1. Balances out. It was also bloody annoying in Halo 1, because it affected your aim too, making it very hard to aim and if not impossible if the enemy keeps a constant rate of fire. I know the Brute Chopper can stun people, something I noticed especially in Campaign.

PR beatdowns are way better than AR beatdowns
Posted by: SacramenT Bungie decided to nerf everything for Halo 2.
Too true. In Halo CE, everything was powerfull and your controller has great force feedback. In Halo 2 everything sounds like the bass was turned way down, and the treble turned up. Halo 3 fall in between the two I think. For the biggest contrast, use the frags and warthog turrret in Halo CE, then use them in Halo 2. The Warthog does't even sound like a gun! It's a huge turret! Of course it's meant to be loud and powerfull!!

I disagree. It's still quite a formidible weapon when used in close quarters. Use it as you would an Assault Rifle. Shapow!

when halo 2 was made with online play a little thing called balnce had to be implemented... :(
-
It was -blam!- annoying to get shot by. Kinda cool tho.

They basically slowed you to a walking speed when under fire from them. It's back in Halo 3, except it's not on the plasma rifle; it's from getting kicked off the Ghost (bloody annoying).
-
halo 1 was an all around better game. but halo 3 cannot inherit its greatness b/c of the duel wield
-
they made the PR more powerful, so they took out the stun effect to compensate
-
I don't recall any stun effect. o_o

I really miss the stun effect.
