So i used the invasion gates systems to create real working drop pods.
I have the map "droppodtest" in my file share.
So here is how it works.
You start off in the room with a corridor of droppod slot, similar to the halo 2 cutscene where they got into the drop pods
.
You jump into one of the slots and stand in the center of the crate. they are all eveloped in an invasion territories objective. So the countdown will begin.
From the start of the game, a custom power up will spawn in 30 seconds in every drop pod, where you would be standing. SETTINGS: The player cannot move, the player is invincable, gravity is super heavy, the player is black, it lasts 30 seconds.
1 second after the powerup spawns, a small human barrier will spawn. Thus closing the door to the droppod. With a nice little slot to see out of as it falls.
So, in just a few more seconds the territories countdown will end, and start the 2nd stage of the game. So at the 2nd stage, the floor underneath the droppod slots will disappear as a gate.
Thus all of the droppods will fall. (you might have to activate the physics by shooting) You can see trough the slot as you fall, and it feels like you are inside of an actual
So, with the custom powerup still counting down, you hit the grounds and arent hurt because you are invincable.
On impact the droppods doors bust off making it quite a dramatic effect.
Just a couple seconds later, the custom powerup wears off and you can move again.
Posted by: the pib Sounds much cooler than my half-assed plot of spawning people 500 feet in the air with Jetpacks. I know render-to-video is gone but can you tape this with your cell phone and post it to youtube?
Or use a capture card if you have one. I'd like to see this in action. It could be great for invasion.
