When Halo 1 drops frames, it's due to obvious high stress and it'll go away when you get to clearly lower-stress areas. But in Halo 3 (and CEA), the game will occasionally just start dropping a frame or two every second or so, and it drives me absolutely nuts.
I see. Is this the same problem? I've been wondering about the speeded up feel in H3.
No, not at all. That's Rockslider's dissertation on issues he has with Halo 3's animation style; it's more an aesthetic complaint than a technical one. I'm talking about framerate problems. Specifically, judder. Judder is when frames don't get displayed for even intervals on a display, causing something to feel choppy even when the overall framerate is staying reasonably decent. In Halo 3's case, it happens when the game starts to drop a frame (or do something stupid to similar effect) every second or so.
Does it affect the looking speed?
