  • Go back and pick up Golden Eye on N64 and play for a few years. Then Pick up Halo and play for a few years. Work you way through the Halo franchise and spend at least one year on each (Skip Reach because it was garbage). When you get bored with Halo, throw in some Call of Duty starting with 4 but don't neglect Halo for more than a few days. Now all CoDs are essentially the same so you should be able to knock this portion of your training in a one year for the whole franchise. After, this you should be a crucible stud. FWIW...this seems to be the story for everyone actually good in crucible. I failed at this training plan and am relegated to a lifetime of sucking at all that is PVP. If you can get a .75 K/D, you're doing pretty well in my book.

  • Practice practice practice. Learn the map layouts, learn approach strategies by using abilities and the environment. Choose a weapon and ability set that suits you and master them. Watch your radar constantly and learn to pick your battles. Win some, lose some. Complain on the forums about balance, get told to git gud, respond in kind. Play Iron Banner when it comes around. Gain metagame experience. Learn to despise point A on Blind Watch. Take a break and run some raids. Then practice some more. Hope this helps.

    • I can give you a few tips if you want! 1) never play alone. Hunt with your team. Only go into rumble once confident in skill. As a lone wolf you will be outnumbered, outmaneuvered, and outgunned. The strength of the wolf is the strength of the pack. If need be, play with a friend! Going in with a fireteam makes it easier to dominate the other team. I'd love to help you if you are on Xbox one! GT is GhastlyGunter. 2) use the weapon you are most comfortable with. This means practice in PVE. Until then, I recommend an auto rifle in the crucible. They are pretty generic, easy to learn weapons for beginners. For pulse rifles, hand cannons, and scout rifles, pve practice will help you. Focus on timing precision shots and learning you effective range with the weapons you are using. You will also learn what secondary best complements your primary weapon type and play style. For example- I use thorn. Thorn is quite effective mid-short range, so I bring in my sniper to help me with the longer range kills. 3) play the objectives (in control). People are attracted to the zones. Take advantage of that. Learn the maps, learn their routes, and learn frequent places for them to migrate across the map. Flank them, come up behind them, and try to gain a strategic map advantage (example- capture points B and C on Blind Watch). DONT CAMP. It comes back to bite you in the end. You will only know how to play one area in the map- not a good thing if spawns flip. Play the game correctly so that you are never out of your comfort zone. Be confident, and know where you are. DO NOT BE AFRAID TO RUN AWAY OR LURE ENEMIES BACK TO YOUR TEAM. 1v2 or more isnt a good plan unless you are prepared. No shame in running to trap your enemies. 4) use crucible effective weapons. Most of the time, certain weapons outperform others. Auto rifles are generally the best crucible weapons. Shotguns and fusion rifles are easy to use and have a high reward rate as well. Machine guns have more potential to kill than rockets. Practice if you want to use other weapons. Even if you want to use weapons that are amazing in crucible, you still need to practice. An auto rifle may be easy to learn, but every weapon takes a margin of skill. Know your weapon well before taking it into PVP. 5) Know your abilities and your class' strong suits. Utilize whatever you have- whether it be amazing warlock grenades and shield melee, cool hunter invisibility and blink, or titan shoulder charge. All classes have their in and outs, ups and downs. Know how to preform well with your build, and try to sync it with your weapons (example- I have blink on my hunter. This syncs with my weapon choice because I use it to confuse shotgun users and get out of too-short-range so I can hammer then with my hand cannon. In the same way, it lets you close distance quickly to use a shotgun (which I personally despise)). 6) keep your cool. Don't rush into battle. Don't rage. Play smart. You're stuck at a .3 kd? Calm down. Play defensive. Hang back for a while. You don't have to rush objectives the whole game. You have 5 other teammates. Keeping a positive K/D ratio is important- it means you helped more than you hurt. 7) have fun! Just keep practicing and learning! It's tough at first! Especially with all the crazy abilities people have in this game! Hopefully OP or someone else found this useful!

      • I'd like to think I do pretty well in Crucible, and like everyone, was once terrible. I think it's commendable that you ask for tips as well, and I think you'll be quite proficient at it in time. I have a few pointers for ya, bud. 1. 2 guns are better than 1. Stick with a Guardian as often as possible. This is especially effective when you can communicate via Mic and coordinate objectives or team movement. 2. Your radar is a tool, not a crutch. Is it great that you have it? Yes. However, should your eye be glued on it for the majority of the match? No. Make your opponent look for you, not you them. When you see your radar light up, adjust to the direction of the red bar and be sure to be looking down your slights. 3. (Control only, optional) You don't necessarily have to do this, however I've gotten most First Blood medals this way. When in control, I always run for the middle flag. Chances are the majority of your team will capture the closest flag, so you can get an early start in capturing your second flag. I personally cover mid, NOT capturing it, while waiting for team reinforcements. This usually grants me a First Blood medal as finding the right angle for the appropriate map mid flag will allow you to flank unsuspecting opponents. 4. When it comes to heavy ammo, HOLD OFF FROM GRABBING IT AS LONG AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN until at least another Guardian is present with you. 2-4 Guardians with heavy ammo can do WAAAAY more damage than just one who might die in the fire focused on them for having heavy ammo in the first place. This is also a great opportunity to capture a flag if you're short one as you can easily clear a room with a well placed rocket or some MG rounds. Happy hunting, Guardian!

        • Radar. Radar. Radar. Headshots. Radar. Be patient, as in don't go rushing into a group for kills. And lastly... use the radar

        • Find a weapon that fits your strategy. Learn the map a little and anticipate where your opponents are at. Also team up with your buddies.

        • Pick fights you can win, if you're caught in a bad spot (like when there's an arc blade) GTFO

        • It depends on your play style. If your a person who likes to get close and aggressive or if you like to stay back with your tram and be defensive. Either strategy works great. When aggressive you have really watch your radar and always try to get the first shot. You have to be careful if there's more than one person and you can't always just run in a room and start shooting expecting to win. You have to try to get the upper hand on the person your targeting. Play smart. Defensive play is just staying back and following your teammates and getting kills. This is also a great way to get the assist bounty. This strategy is the safe way.

        • Use the weapons that require the least amount of skill to perform, just like Titolasvegas said With that setup, you're the perfect crucible scrub.

        • 1. Use an AR like Suros 2. Use Fusion 3. Use a LMG 4. Consider all gun fights a 1v1 engagement and think about why you lost the ones you do.

Practice and don't stress about KD. I've been terrible most of the time, but I have noticed improvement since having to do some Exotic bounties. Learn the maps and ammo spawns. I've been playing better lately, but how much of that is Christmas noobs remains to be seen.

        • Dont be stupid! Before you engage in a fight, know who is around and dont go out trying to kill one guy while the rest of his team is gunning you down. Go in with a team. Another thing, expect shotguns, lots of em! So keep your distance. (Unless you can hit em first) When surrounded, calm yourself and think about the best course of action. Dont forget about your super, Learn your radar, dont sheeple to one spot, and lastly, outsmart your enemy.

        • Play... Each gun type requires a different approach to use effectively. Just play untill you find what suites you best.

        • Choose gun battles wisely. If you're below half health and encounter an enemy run away. If you encounter 2 enemies at once and they're both looking at you, run away. Don't rely heavily on radar but predict enemy movements and always make the first move to catch them off guard.

        • Best thing is always be the smarter man about what your strengths are. I like running in shotgun then pull the scout rifle out to pick off people from a distance. And big groups use a rocket. Find what you feel is a good tactic and work with it to start then find new ways or strategies to make you better every match
