It has its holes, yes, but it's really not as bad as you might think. I honestly think it even has the merit to stand up to the Theory of Creationism. What do you think about evolution? Is it good enough to replace the Theory of Creationism or no?
Just as a reference, the holes in evolution are listed below:
1. Free will: Why would humans evolve to have free will if it means not acting upon evolutionary instincts? Is free will not a step back from evolution?
2. Origin of life: There is no clear, effective model as to how the first cell arose from its component atoms and molecules.
3. Lack of in between species and fossils: we should see more of a transition between each of the species in our fossil record if they really came from one another.

That Richard Dawkins quote really lowers my opinion of him 1. Humans didn't evolve from monkeys 2. We are just as "evolved" as the apes that are around today, we just have different adaptations. 3. Natural selection is a slow process in which a group of organisms change over generations to the point that they can be classed as a different species the the original. This means that (If separated from the main group) some of a species could change more in a new environment and exist at the same time as their predecessors.

I hear the gathering of pitchforks and torches clinking against pocket protectors. Good for thinking on your own.

Wait, a wet fart stands up to the theory of creationism.... Anything does.... Don't think evolution is correct... Fine whatever, but if you think that's flawed why on earth would you think creationism is a better option.... It's like a one legged dog and that one leg is cancerous, decrepit and unusable... i.e it's got nothing to stand on. And then creationist wonder why they get called -blam!-ing morons

evolution would be so fun to actually discuss but nope there's always going to be cancer like Dustin that just needs to use rehashed troll material, just fantastic

1)free will exists in pretty much every creature with a sufficiently advanced brain showing brain development, which occurs over many many thousands of years is linked 2)origin of life is not evolution but instead abiogenysis. A different field. 3)there is no missing link. Every year more gaps are filled in,there is no massive gap as spewed by the ignorant but instead little ones that keep getting filled. Bonus:look at bacteria, which is currently evolving to be resistant to our meds
-
I wasn't aware creationism was a valid explanation to begin with.
-
The origin of life explanation in evolution is the biggest turn off for me of that theory.
-
Dawkins never said that. I did an extensive search to find the original source of that quote and it cannot be found anywhere. Saying that is like asking why the British still exist since America came from it.

I was expecting this to be Pokemon thread. I'm disappointed.

Edited by TotallyNotDrew: 12/27/2014 9:53:11 PMI don't think you understand evolution exactly. Evolution doesn't just take place in one generation. It's multiple generations of change that turn one species into a different species. Then, through competitive exclusion, that new species may drive out the old species to extinction. But, adaptations only prevail in a species if they are helpful in surviving, hence why humans aren't evolving still, and most likely won't until space travel. Most of the times a species divulges is when a natural desperation occurs, I.E some animals are trapped in an island from a flash flood while others are on a different island. Those two different environments would have different predators, different plant life therefore different coloring, and different prey. So, while one species would stay the same on the island that didn't change, the other island would create a new species. Therefore the old species still lives, because it is suited for its environment. Edit: Also can you give me a link to that article or video that's from, because I have a feeling your taking that out of context simply because of how ill-stated that is

If adults come from babies, then how come there are still babies? Checkmate Evolutionists.

You guys honestly don't get tired of posting the same shit over and over?

K, you're acting like the theory of evolution is some new, uncredited idea. It's not, it's one of the most well explained and substantiated theories out there. The theory of evolution does not try to explain the origin of life, simply how it changed into what it is now.
-
Lol evolution. Trust neckbeard atheists to say Pokemon is real.
-
A true sadist is at work here.

Humans did not evolve from monkeys. We had a common ancestor of which we have not found called the missing link. The evolution of this ancestor branched into two different species. One of which would become is and one of which would become simians.
-
Lol. Dawkins never said that. OP is misrepresenting yo.

1. Free will is an illusion 2. Our lack of knowledge concerning the origin of life doesn't necessarily discount evolution 3. Fossils are generally quite rare (all things considered) and although some intermediaries have been found it is better to consider life as something in constant flux. Species we name are arbitrary.

1. Actually there is no real "free will". Sorry for my english but: your "free will" is just a result of chemical processes in your brain which make you do something which you think is "free will", but is actually the action with the highest chance of you performing with said chemical processes. Makes sense? 2. Yes there is. Once read about a research on how a few molecules + lightning would create it. Don't know where and when i read it sorry.
