So I see a lot of complaints that there aren't enough armor shaders, or that they're useless because they don't feel "unique" or "custom"... And for the most, part I would have to agree. I think deep-down we all want or guardians to feel a little unique in some way... And then it hit me.
Last night while I was sitting on the throne purging my regrettable dietary decisions an idea struck me; this is that idea:
Dear, Destiny Lords and Bungie Gods, please bring to us, your most loyal and trusted Guardians, a vendor or an option that would allow us to COMBINE SHADERS!
There would be a menu with two slots that you can place any of your shaders into. Once you've placed a shader in each slot, you combine them to make 1 totally new and unique shader.
How it would work: The 1st slot would take the primary color(s) of that shader and apply it to the new one, and the 2nd slot would take the secondary/detail color(s) of that shader and apply it to the new one. This new shader would not be a candidate for a different "combination".
Doing this: would consume both shaders used and cost the guardian 10 motes of light.
So what do you think my fellow guardians? Say it with me!!
MAKE THIS HAPPEN!! !
(And yes, before anyone says anything, I know they are bringing more shaders, but this would allow a vast selection of shaders and finally a way for us all to feel unique in some way without special-snowflake exotics)

Yes great idea dont know about the shader comsume though. Would be nice if you could keep the shaders since you have already gone through a lot to earn them. They dont come cheap! Otherwise brilliant
-
The weekly update says they're adding more
-
I Dont understand people upset about the shaders. I Dont even get to play much anymore and I have 9 or 10. I use 2. Lvl up the cryptarch.
-
Would work for me as long as I can preview it on my guardian before purchase
-
That -blam!-ing vendor who sells the shaders never ever re stocks the shaders. What the hell ?
-
Nah, good idea but I can't see them adopting this. To much work. I was thinking more like you could assign specific shaders to every peice of gear and even your guns. Guns would have a slot to place shaders. Every separate piece of armor would have a slot for a ahader as well. Or u could "select all"
-
I would combine substance 321 (for camo) with revenant and God of war to create red and black camo!

Thanks for the positive feedback guys.

Edited by I0 Darkness 0I: 11/8/2014 10:18:15 PMThis would be sick especially if Xûr sold exotic shaders for ~10 strange coins that were neon or had special effects on them (thinking something like inclement weather from reach) and you could throw those into the combiner. You would get some truly unique stuff from that.

I have been saying something similar to this since pre-launch. My idea was to have a shader and emblem studio on b.net that we could make a custom shader/emblem and then import it into our game via special delivery. The more colours/shapes used the higher the item tier and final cost in glimmer.
-
This would be reaaaally cool!
-
Cool idea. Me, I'd just be happy if that shader/emblem lady near the Speaker had something other than the same old. Seriously, they haven't changed for me once.
-
There should be shaders that glow, flash, light up, shine, etc
-
Or you know, let us shade individual pieces of gear so that we have more options to how our guardian look like as well as being able to skin gears so that not everyone looks exactly the same.
-
Bump. Add this Bungie!
-
-
I really wish I could get rid of the default shader. That thing is just taking up shader space.
-
Obviously you haven't seen what is coming in the new expansion. It has been hinted that there will be custom shaders. Vehicle shaders have already been confirmed I think.

Edited by Luke KB: 11/8/2014 5:38:04 PMWow, the whining threads and "looking for raid" threads are eating this way to fast... Kinda like me and that pumpkin pie last night... But I digress... BuMP
