Thorn's Exotic Bounty
Bungie, me and 2 other friends just went through the most excrutiating failure I have ever experienced in my gaming career.
I put hours into the completion of Thorn's exotic bounty and it was all for nothing. I did everything this bounty asked for.
Right up until I have to take out Xyor The Unwed at Phogoth's lair.
How do you think it feels to be supported by great teammates at appropriate levels, attempting a level 26 strike, surrounded by FIVE blatantly overpowered wizards, who are being supported by cowardly knights that are more than eager to launch a full blown cavalry charge onto your fireteam, swarming you with their obsene numbers?
I would very much love to know what made the dev team think it was in any way, shape, or form, FAIR to be outnumbered by hundreds of reinforced knights and wizards who fire on you continuasly with a stream of 3 hit kill balls of pure death?
I put far too much time and effort into this one bounty to be screwed out of it. I apologize for my profane vocabulary but there is simply no better way to drive my point through. I will not attempt that miserable strike again until I am A. Level 30 along with my fireteam buddies, or B. the dev team decides to do the right thing and completely nerf the 5 swarming wizards of garaunteed demise at Phogoth's lair.
One or two wizards we can tolerate. But this is too much. It is legitimately *impossible* to kill Xyor no matter how good my team is. I am on my knees here so hear me out.
Just nerf the wizards. That's all I'm asking. I'm certain plenty of other players will agree with me.
If you find it impossible to nerf the wizards, reduce their numbers in Phogoth's lair.
I've given you some absolutely golden advice on how to make the game more enjoyable. Because what happened on that strike was far from enjoyable.

just finished soloing this today. Was a pain in the ass! You really have to use those elemental damage modifiers...I ran a hand cannon for primary, with ammo speced armor for high damage per round, an arc sniper rifle to drop knight shields, canon finishes them off unless they are hallowed then I still use the sniper, and a fire machine gun for the wizards. You have to have plenty of ammo packs. I sat outside the shrieker room and just ground it out. You will have to go for the kill on some of the wizards otherwise they will teleport out and be full health when they come back. Once xyor showed up I downed him with my hunters gunslinger, killed him with all 3 shots at lvl 27.

I don't want this game to be easy, then it's just boring. The game should be challenging.

3 Replies1) Learn how to play better. Plenty of people have completed the bounty. So it's not impossible. 2) It's an Exotic Weapon bounty... It is SUPPOSED to take time to achieve. You want free handouts in this game?

Was going to chip in on my frustration at failure playing with 2 friends last night but got motivated with the success stories of others that I just beat it by myself was much easier than playing with 3 total might as well be throwing rocks at there sheilds

It was hard but I have it. I GOT FRIENDS TO help me. It was not worth it in terms of power boost...the gun isn't particulaly better than any other gun. It was spiritual bliss to GET the weapon after beating that mission. It's been the main weapon I use. Even having Suros Regime and Atheons' Epilogue. GETTING it gives me a new insight into how exotics should work

oddly enough, the hardest part of this bounty is finding and getting together with good players to do the strike.

If I can solo it... You can find a way to do it with 2 others... This not a game of brute force, this is a game of smarts, think first act second.

I'd rather have a super difficult challenge then be rewarded for being a badass than just get something handed to me. ;) life's funner when you have to earn what you want. And they said they will be improving Thorn and the PR bad juju so all the more reason to go after it. I'm level 28 and plan on doing it solo ;P

Me and 2 of my buddies did it fine. Was difficult but if you know what your doing its do able, and its suppose to be hard considering its for an exotic

I thought it was tough too. I had 2 lvl 28s with me and I still couldn't beat it. Eventually they quit and i was stuck by myself. I tried it by myself and beat it first try. With only one person there are only 3 wizards and 1 of them is xyor.

While I haven't gotten that far along with my bounty yet, it almost sounds like you stood in the entryway. Which causes lots of extra wizards and Knights to spawn. Just my thought. I know some people have said to hang out there, but honestly, it's easier when you're all out in the big room. As far as I know.

My team and I completed the mission, I have a Thorn now. Took us some tries, but not more than an hour. Hang back by the entry doorway to the room before the cavern. You'll have cover and can shoot, but make sure you're close enough they don't despawn. Failing that, one of you can hang back there while the other two go in and do the fight so in case those two get wiped the third person can rush in and do a quick revive save. It's possible, just hard. Keep trying.

There is nothing wrong with ghe mission. If you cant do it then dont do it and quit complaining

1 ReplyIt's not impossible it's just hard. Other people have finished the bounty including myself. You just need a good strategy and good communication with your team. You can also try leveling your character up more to give them an advantage the next time you try finishing the bounty.
