Also it's missing private matches (along with custom modes like you could do in halo), level editors (what if we wanted a large flat land and build racing levels for sparrows), and much more with it. This is what kept me playing halo 3 was all the innovative things people would create and fun game modes. It be nice (idea: give us forge mode from halo but let us turn into our ghosts instead of that stupid forge ball =0). someone probably already had this idea.

 • Funny how the players can make stuff that's better than what the game was meant to be within that very game.

 • Hundreds of thousands of people playing a game. Many many many of them are so talented and creative and just brilliant. Having the freedom to make something in this kind of world extends the life span of any kind of game. Don't know why bungie stripped us of it.

What you're saying is like expecting World of Warcraft to have RTS gameplay and custom map editors because Starcraft and the previous Warcraft installments had that gameplay. There is no point allocating manpower and time to something that doesn't fit with the theme and design. Halo was an arena party game with an emphasis on multiplayer for replay ability (because story content couldn't be released and implemented as DLC). Forge essentially made up or this inability. Destiny has the ability to implement story and pve content via DLC, not to mention the IP is heavily focused on PVE and story content.

 • Not mad about it, just salty; Yes BUNGIE can make a few more planets, or areas or missions for the game (which are heavily lacking, small and short to start with), but how can that compare to the infinite possibilities of forge? I made racing maps, zombie sniper survival levels, warthog demolition derby, and jenga.. F*%king jenga man.. Not to mention people remaking their fav maps from previous games, starwars museums, and so on and so on... That is just a scratch on a iceberg. Yes i am salty about it; the resources to make a flat area for each planet or just one large one and allow us dev privileges in it and custom create modes.. (i know it takes more then that). Let the limited imaginations of the creators make the pve content and give us there competitive pvp area (which they didn't even do that). Let the creative people make extreme and complex creations to extend the life of your game. Your getting people to make there own fun. Why little big planet style games last so long and like you yourself said with halo, it EXTENDS THE LIFE for replay ability. This may seem like arguing and sorry. Just extreme salty this one mode and private matches didn't make it in, along with competitive multiplayer.

 • As far as something like forge, unless the foundation for such a mode was left in the coding on the disc I doubt it. At the very least, a flexibility to allow the quick construction of a similar mode complete with file sharing, something altogether different from the flexibility hinted at for Pvp.

 • They cant add forge. One, there are no variants in which to create. Two, Forge files were saved to Hard drive. Everything, EVERYTHING on Destiny is saved to THEIR servers.
Everything, EVERYTHING on Destiny is saved to THEIR servers.
For the record, that's not the reason it can't happen. If it was, that would mean thing's like virtual networking (The cloud, google docs, google drive) aren't possible.

 • Yes, but only 500 MB to each account can be stored. However, Bungie doesnt need/want to store any more space when they have to worry about oh idk, lets say 10 million accounts with possibly 3 characters each for a total of 30 million characters stored to their servers.

The data that will ultimately be our gender choice, physical features choices, equipped items, stored items in the vault, raid/daily progress is actually quite small, relatively speaking. Probably is without relativity too actually. (The following is just hypothesis btw) The actual problem would lie in how the game is structured. Everything is instanced and the world is in constant runtime, which means that the servers are keeping track of multiple simultaneously running environments of gigabits worth of data. The destinations, instanced story modes, separate Crucible matches, AI programming, the generation and discarding of map AI based on respawns and deaths. All of the particle effects, textures, in game assets. All of that. The servers are set up to run this way, and only this way. All of these instances have been designed by individuals aware of the limitations of the hardware --that being both their servers and the user side consoles they're designing for. Specifically they created a game within the parameters that won't result in a server overload and melted slag heap. The player, however, won't. Spawning dozens of particle effects or other assets in one space...really devouring the processing speed of their console to the point of frame rate drop or freezing. This is the kind of behavior you wouldn't want occurring over a persistently online game that operates package communication of essentially everything in real time all of the time. Suddenly, the servers have to keep track of excessively high amounts of assets on player created maps while at the same time maintaining the Bungie created game. Multiply this player behavior by the thousands, millions. Now I'm not saying every player is going to do this, but the possibility is very real. You'll probably wonder, why not set a limit like Halo's forge? Remember only forge's final product--the save file that records what you did is actually sent to the servers. Destiny's servers are in constant communication with you.
