• i don't hate MLG...i just DETEST and HATE with every fiber of my being what it represents. As a father nothing could get under my skin as much a something like MLG that basically says to kids "School...-blam!- school you don't need it be l337 and play video games and get paid" >.< it's retarded, and hell most MLG aren't even that GOOD they use the most OP weapon in the game and then it's pretty much luck of whoever gets the first shot off

I doubt MLG/MLG wanna-bes will have a very big presence in Destiny. The ones I've run into in Halo were always huge on competitive multiplayer and always called Campaign "gay" and "for losers and noobs". Since Destiny will have a large emphasis on PvE (to the point that PvP almost seems like a side dish), the MLG folk who hate Campaign and PvE in games like Halo will probably stay away from Destiny. This makes me happy, because I hate running into bitter, mean, and narrow minded people who belittle others for having different tastes than their own. Disclaimer: I know some MLG types are respectful people, but most I've had experience with are rude, cocky, and arrogant.

        • I dont have anything against actual major league gamers ie faze crew and team caliber i dont see how they will be a problem in destiny PvE but in any PvP game their will be MLG wannabes proper MLG gamers are not a pest at all they provide a challenge and possible sense of achievement; it's all the stupid squeakers and crack heads who think they are good that are the problem

        • Destiny is meant for casuals. You don't need to worry about mlg.

        • My biggest and maybe only issue with MLG is this. Why does everything have to be made into a competition? There have been tons of games that I myself have been the best player in the room for tournament and casual settings alike. (SSB/SSBB/SSBM, COD, BF, Halo) So I don't think competition is a horrible thing by any means but the fact that video game developers cater to MLG preferences over the regular people that will be buying the game is ridiculous. Video games were meant to be a fun way to escape reality for a little bit. Personally when I was playing competitively I found myself having less fun even when my team won. It became unfriendly rivalries and I actually lost friends over it. Next, to address your last part of your post, I'm sorry for the inconsiderate people online these days but you had to have known what your nephew was going to be hearing and address the manner accordingly. After all being on the mic for a fraction of a second in any COD lobby will give a good incite to the type of players you'll be dealing with. No headset, Muting the TV or chat in general or not letting him play a game that is not suitable for his age range are all viable options in regards to online play especially. Though the game may be rated "T" the multiplayer is always not rated for the legal factors that free speech can not be suppressed (only talking about for online chatting not political. lol) and you never really know what you're going to hear online. Furthermore, I hope that you realize that competitive "gamers" are not all bad but I do agree that Destiny shouldn't be "corrupted" by the touch of the MLG machine. Destiny should, as it was originally intended, stay a game heavily devoted to PVE and the social (or lack there of currently) experience and I would like to see the franchise evolve over time with the next installments not simply stay the same with "better" multiplayer options. ( I swear if drop shoting was a thing or ever became a thing in Destiny...) In conclusion MLG has already picked up the game so there will be the MLG players online from launch to end but don't let that detract from YOUR personal gaming experience. Have fun and see you starside fellow guardian.

        •
WHO WANT TO BE MLG and to those of you that are MLG
How the hell can you BE an organisation that holds competitive tournaments? you make no sense. Also there will always be people trying in video games, they want to do their best. Yes some take it more seriously than others and if they're playing a social game mode and calling you names, that's stupid, but having a hardcore community that plays competitively in competitive modes is only a healthy part of the Destiny community.

          • I've played MLG a lot before. I had lots of fun, and it added more meaning to winning. But I would never complain about someone being "bad" or "noobie" etc. in any public (non MLG) place, (or anywhere really). A lot of my friends play MLG too and they're the same way. Just because some people are idiots who happen to play MLG say dumb stuff doesn't mean all of us are like that.

          • There is absolutely nothing wrong with the concept of the MLG. It allows competitive players to team up and play against other players of their skill, and if that's what they want from gaming, good for them. If Destiny doesn't have private matches to start, if the MLG adopts Destiny, I'm sure Bungie will patch it in. If you run up against MLG players or a team, use it as a way to better yourself in the Crucible. The Crucible is all about being better than other players, and I gladly invite the MLG so that I can be a better player. I can't speak for the individual players (whether it be good or bad), but there's nothing wrong with the concept. Get beaten by them, learn what you did wrong, and get better. I'm not an MLG player, with no aspirations to be, but not everyone wants to stay an amateur. tl; dr: As a concept, MLG is fine. Get better, or get over it.

          • No the destiny forum just hates anyone who dislikes the game and anyone who plays competitively wanted custom game options to play competitive games. I for one do not like MLG but regardless of what you think, competitive gaming keeps a game alive, and not all competitive people are ass holes, there's ass holes everywhere competitive or not.

              • What is the point of MLG? Serious question because if they're trying to get fans and get paid to play games. Being dicks doesn't help that cause especially to the people who would be most likely to support them.

                  • Competitive players, and MLG is actually what games need. The players push the game to it's limits and even further. It helps tje community, and helps the game. It creates new communities. The game Super Smash Brothers Melee (I know it's irrelevant to Destiny, just listen. It's a good example) is one of the most competitive games out there. Watch a video of professionals playing, they do crazy stuff that you didn't think was possible, because they are competitive or MLG if you want. Don't try and push back competitive players.
