And then I realised that their voice chat functionality is fantastic.
First you choose who you can communicate with. So you can have everyone muted by default without the ability for them to hear you. You can set it so you can only hear friends and they can only hear you. Then you got an option so you can hear everyone and they can all hear you.
The second element is it works within proximity. So when you get roughly half a mile of someone.
It satisfies everryone. Don't like voice chat? Set everyone muted by default. Wanna chat with only friends? Set it to friends only. Wanna make friends? Set it to public.
I'll be getting the white ps4 and without voice chat I won't be able to meet and greet players, forming a raiding team. Shame.

Actually, you're almost correct. Yes it is excellent, but it doesn't have proximity. You can talk to someone at the bottom edge while you're at the top edge. Unless there is some proximity chat option idk about.

i'd like to see someone try to argue how this will ruin destiny lol personally at first I wasn't even mad about no chat I was confused about a shared world game with no chat support........ its just doesnt make sense

Join a Clan. Brotherhood of Wanderers is a PS4 Clan. And Ghost Company.

This would be ok as long as exactly how it was in the beta would be the default setting and then people could customize it however they wanted. I am a huge fan of the Fireteam only chat and loved how it worked; surround sound and affected by the environment. GTAO is exactly why I liked the Fireteam only chat and why I was glad to not hear everyone by default.

I think this is a good idea. I would go one step further and suggest two things: 1. Players can tell by looking at your name on the scoreboard and above your head whether or not you can hear them or if they are talking to you. 2. A count of how many players that otherwise could hear a player have that player specifically muted. It wouldn't count friend only mutes, but manual mutes that are still in effect.

Good idea that system would work well for this game..

Yep, I like that idea. I want the option to turn on the chats. And in Strikes I think they should be on by default but you can turn it off if you'd like. Would love to see more social options in-game. I'm grabbing a white PS4 along with my brother at the midnight release, perhaps we'll see you in game! PSN - RadBrad31

I used chat in destiny, was in a fire team and we both could hear each other but the audio sounded like when your ghost talks like he was talking from inside the helmet, had to change to party chat because I could barely hear him over the weird distortion in the audio. I guess I'm the only one who experienced that
