Are you really in this much denial? It was an interview with DEEJ a -blam!-ing Bungie employee. How is that not from Bungie when he is the community manager you moron! In the interview they ask "is there only ONE EXPLORE per planet" Deej then goes on to say "YES." I am sorry you got over hyped and are having trouble dealing with this. I was hyped as well, and found this to be very disappointing. With that said it has been laid out in front of you, and it is sad that you cannot accept it. You can easily tell that it was Deej's voice in the interview.

  • He actually says each planet is a destination and there is 6 destination each of them are explorable he never said there is one location on each planet. besides there is proof there are multiple locations on each planet because Earth has at least 2 which is Old Russia and the Eastern Flood Zone

  • Yes on day one there will only be 1 location to explore per planet. But people (not say you) are only looking a the smaller picture. This game will be having CONSTANT expansions to it, so IN TIME we will be having more places to explore. But right now, on day one, Yes its still the cosmodrome on Earth.

  • So we are paying for an unfinished game?

  • No. You a playing a world that is DESIGNED to be modular and expandable. Bungie signed a contract to put out 4 games (plus expansion packs) based on this world over the next 10 years. They are not going to give you everything right away...nor should you want them to. If this were a football game, we'd only be through the warm-ups and getting ready to start the first quarter.

  • I'd be ok with that if the game had more content at launch.

  • I'm sure you would....in theory. Human nature in practice is different. Give people choices beyond a certain number, and they get overwhelmed...and wind up making use of fewer options than if you gave them fewer choices. Smart people don't go for sheer volume. They try to hit that sweet spot between boredom (too few choices) and anxiety (too many). I think Bungie will hit it because my sense is that we saw only about a third of what is exploitable space in Old Russia .

  • Most RPGs aren't FPS, and are running on PCs where players pay monthly subscription fees to support the creation of new content, and the maintenance of server farms. What did you expect for a ONE-TIME $60 investment??

  • No, You're paying for an ever expanding world. You don't have to buy any of the expansions and the game on day 1 will have an ending. Deej said that the game will have a "middle and ending" So perhaps in future expansions we will see "the great war" which lead to the collapse of the traveller. Since the ghost just revives you, I don't see why you can't play as a guardian hundreds of years ago in that time period :)

  • Disregarding the part about an "ever expanding world"... you'd be pretty naive to think that they're going to expand on the game at all without making you pay for it... I would actually like to see a prequel mission, of sorts... that takes you back in time and lets you see how your Guardian dies. I could see it being kind of like the epilogue mission in Halo Reach... where you fight waves of enemies, progressing in difficulty and numbers, until your Guardian is finally overwhelmed and falls. It's likely never going to happen... but it would be an interesting mission, at least.

  • I really doubt they are going to be giving out new locations for free. They will release with the DLC where we will have to pay even more money. The worst part is you know the first DLC is already completed. They just won't put it in the game, because they want to milk us for every dime we have. Pretty sad how far the game industry has fallen.

  • And what game does give them for free? CoD gave 4 map packs, each costing £15 each? BF4 also gave 4 map packs, each costing similar to CoD. Even single player games like Final Fantasy gave out little character costumes and things for money. I don't know why people expect free things, how else are they going to fund the game if everything's for free? Destiny is a 10 year franchise, do you really think that the money made from pre orders and all the limited editions is enough money to run the company for 10 years? lol. c'mon. ITS A BUSINESS.

  • ...and it needs to be. Because ALL the people who are working to bring this game to life, have lives of their own, families to raise, and bills that need to be paid.

  • No, but selling over 10 million copies for the 3 games would be more then enough. That would be 30 million sales in total at $60, is 1.8 billion dollars. That isn't enough money? They need to charge DLC content too? You do realize there was this thing called releasing full games, but that was long ago. Now companies launch a game and then release a DLC like a month later. Like really, you're going to tell me they make a DLC in a month? The first DLC is done, but they wont put it in the game, they will just charge you for it. People that have your attitude is the reason this happens.

  • Yes, I remember those days....and in those days you got "full games". Which meant what content you got on launch day was ALL YOU EVER GOT. Then came MMOs, which gave you expanding worlds...but required that--in addiction to your "full game" price...that you pay a subcription fee every month in order to pay the cost of providing that additional content. But this is a business model that console gamers have largely resisted. So that brings us to DLC. Which gives developers a means of raising additional revenue to provide content, but in a form in which console gamers will accept. We live in a capitalist system, WarrickWarrior. Businesses don't surivive by "making enough" money. They survive because they make profits...and business that make LOTS of money, attract even more money. Which allows (in Bungie's case) the resources they need to make even bigger and better games in the future. Which is why---wisely----Bungie's corporate mission is "world domination" within their field. There's no free lunch here. Just who gets stuck with the bill. If you want epic, obsessively crafted games like Destiny....you are going to have to pay for them. Period.

  • I understand what your saying, but its a business. Bungie and activision want to make money, like you would. How do they make money? Charge people for expansions.. I understand that, it wont change. I paid for all the DLC's for BF4 and for most of CoD. People don't moan as much because DLC's are expected with those types of games and they're going to happen here. If you want to stand your high moral ground and don't buy it, that's fine, but the other million or so players will. People with "my attitude" are the reason why some companies are still in business lol.

  • You are missing the entire point. I do not mind DLC, but its bullshit that they have created content and aren't putting it in the original game. DLC should be made after the game is released. Do you know how many of those DLC packs were already developed before the game shipped. You're often times paying for shit that should have been in the game to begin with.

  • He's not missing the point. The POINT is that your $60 only buys you a certain amount of VALUE (in video game terms...content). Any business that provides you with more content than your $60 is worth (based on their own costs), loses money, and eventually goes out of business. George Lucas didn't give you all six Star Wars movies for the price of one ticket. Also there is the issue of PACING. Give people too much at one time, they get overwhelmed and lose interest. Break down that same amount into smaller bites, given to them over a longer period of time...and you get people clamouring for more. Bungie is where it is for two reasons. One, the make games that are fun to play. Two they are MASTER story-tellers. Especially in terms of pacing what they reveal to the player.

  • Really? We are stooping to the stupidity level that people dislike too much content? I don't even know what to say to you anymore, as that is honestly one of the most RETARDED things I have ever read on here. No shit George Lucas didn't give me the all 6 movies for the price of one, because they were SEPARATE -blam!-ing movies. I will tell you what George Lucas didn't do. He didn't release Episode 6 with only half of the story complete. He didn't charge you again, 4 other times in order to get the rest of the story for ONE movie.

  • Fair enough. But what else would the design team be doing whilst the games bugs are being fixed till release? They can't just sit there waiting till September to be making new gameplay lol. Even so, all the other countless games which squirt of DLC would have also designed all these new game mode or skins before release waiting for the right time so sell it to the public. So Destiny really isn't all that different.

  • That is the entire -blam!-ing point. EVERY game does this now and its -blam!-ing SICKENING. Believe it or not there was a time when games released with a ridiculous amount of content. There was also FREE DLC back in the day, or it would cost like $10 and be about half as big as the original game. DLC has deteriorated into a bunch of bullshit and people like you are just perfectly fine with it. Oh they've developed stuff and will just charge it for me later after I have already paid $60 for it. Gaming is already expensive, and don't tell me that these companies don't reap insane amounts of profit as is. These companies don't have to release a ridiculous amount of DLC and charge you up the ASS to make a lot of profit. I suggest you watch the video by Jim Sterling that I have provided you. He is a game journalist that is hugely popular, because he speaks the hard truth on all gaming subjects.

  • The hard reality of economics is that money holds different value to different people... While the cost of producing games has gone up, the price that (console) gamers are willing to pay initially for a games really hasn't. So you've got two choices: settle for poorer quality games...or spread the payments out over time. Either with optional DLC. Or subscription fees. Or pay higher prices up front.
