The game is designed this way. If you're switching Special and Heavy weapons DURING a game, you're suppose to lose all the ammo. It's enticing to keep the same weapons, rather than constantly swapping them out, it's a small penalty.

  • I'm with mumhustlar. When I find a gun on the battlefield I want to try it out. Also I like to use a sniper and a shotgun. If I have a fully loaded shotgun and go outside and need a sniper, I can't do that until I find ammo. Never seen a game where you lose ammo for switching weapons. I can understand if you have a fully loaded shotgun, you switch to the sniper and pickup more ammo to fill it up but you can switch back to the shotgun and it's still loaded. One doesn't effect the other kind of thing.

  • Surely its a complete penalty, not a small one? A small penalty would be to round down the ammo count when you switch, not LOSE IT ALL. Also, its very handy when simply testing out which of two (different ammo type) weapons you prefer to use. This isnt for "cheating", its having fun and exploring (one of the taglines of Destiny) the potential of the gear you pick up. If the main game is too harsh to allow you to do this, that is bad - if no other option exists to support this (ie a safe zone / gun range / combat simulation area) then that is just lazy. I am being objective here - ME3 had a gun range for this explicit reason and that game is 3 years old now, on half the budget. Its fair to be objective then answering a genuine question (a veiled request at improving the user experience really) and I mean no offense, since I assume your "mentor" standing has some respectability attached to it. I personally do also feel the ammo loss is "annoying" as it currently stands.
