Bungie just released that there will be no splitscreen in Destiny. However, they also said that if the community came together on a subject then they WILL listen. We need to band together, and show that we CARE about whether or not there is splitscreen.
I want to play with my friends and family. I don't want to spend $400+ just to please these major companies. Ever since Halo, I've loved split-screen. I couldn't STOP. 4-Player FPS was my DREAM, and now Bungie, my HERO, makes the one of the most beautiful games I've ever seen single player, I couldn't stand aside.
This is for the gamers who love splitscreen.
This is for the people who want to make their OWN choices, not the ones who'd rather have greedy gaming companies chose FOR them.
This is for the family.
This is for the friends.
This is for split-screen.
Please comment below why you do or don't want split-screen.
Also share this link all over the web. Twitter. Facebook. Bungie. With your help we can bring split-screen back to Destiny.
(EDIT #2) The change.org petition was made by someone else.
http://www.change.org/petitions/destiny-add-split-screen-co-op
(EDIT) Also everyone. Be nice and respectful of others. Keep it clean out there, I don't want this to be reduced to a shouting match. Keep the peace.
I hope you're listening Deej.
(EDIT)
Guys, lets think for a moment.
People talk about consoles not being able to handle splitscreen and single player experiences being ruined because adding splitscreen would reduce single player graphics.
If this was true, wouldn't Bungie have just said that in their explanation of why splitscreen wasn't in Destiny?
Think about it.
If consoles didn't have the power, wouldn't Bungie have just said that for their reason why Destiny didn't have splitscreen?
If single player graphics were decreased, wouldn't Bungie have just said that for their reason why Destiny didn't have splitscreen?
But Bungie DIDN'T.
Their silence speaks for itself.
None of the above is TRUE, because if it WAS Bungie would have just SAID SO as their excuse for no splitscreen!
Think about it! If it was TRUE they would have just used it as their excuse!
However they DIDN'T.
Which means only one thing:
IT ISN'T TRUE.
They never mentioned it! They said nothing about console power or single player graphics!
So the REASON WHY it wasn't mentioned is because it SIMPLY ISN'T TRUE!
Consoles CAN handle it!
Singe player graphics AREN'T affected!
And Bungie doesn't want us to know!
They only technicalities they went into were "rendering" and "tethering", however, they also never said that splitscreen WASN'T possible!
They speak of rendering and tethering, but never said that it WASN'T possible!
Cmon people! Look at it! Splitscreen IS possible, and we need to speak up!
Btw MMO's can have splitscreen.

A bungie game with out splitscreen is like a gamer with no controler. Bring back splitscreen
-
I'm sorry but Split Screen does not work with these types of games. It's becoming a thing of the past, my friends are online. They're no longer next to me unfortunately. That's just what things have become and everyone just needs to deal with it.
-
No because if you add splitscreen they will have to sacrifice performance/visuals to cater to it. Also with how the game is it wouldnt work
-
It was never said that this game would have split-screen, but there are other games that do. You could play those games.
-
Borderlands 2 has been my most played game for the last 2 years because I sit down and play it split screen with my wife, she hadn't played video games before she met me and now I can't imagine playing games without her, whether or not a game has local co-op is now a big deal for me. It's just more fun to play with people in the same room, and that is something game developers seem to have forgotten recently. Bring back split screen!
-
My wife and i were expecting/hoping for splitscreen... this is a real hit for us on if we get the game or not.
-
"This is a socially driven game. We want players to work together and it's heavily team based" >no split-screen >no public chat LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL But really this sucks
And the people who are saying that we don't need split screen are just pampering whatever Bungie says because they're blinded by hype
Honestly, the two reasons I loved Halo 3 almost to an irrational degree were custom games and splitscreen. As far as I know, Destiny has neither, and this makes me sad.

Edited by Arborstone: 6/12/2014 9:49:31 PMIf the argument for no split screen rests primarily on the open-world experience, I can understand that. If rendering two open-world environments is too taxing on the system, alright. But what about split screen co-op multiplayer (Crucible)? Enabling split screen in that game type doesn't seem hard since the maps are small and contained. Eric Osborne mentioned Guesting specifically, which makes sense: no investment in a character leads to not appreciating the game. But for 2+ people in the same room with online profiles it could make Destiny a viable game option, and allow players an opportunity to keep progressing their characters (level up, get upgrades, etc.) and stay invested in the game. Just a thought; a complete split screen experience would be awesome, but maybe something like that could get implemented more quickly. Edit: clarified that by co-op multiplayer I mean the Crucible game type.

DeeJ, I saw you kicking sp00n's ass in the alpha. Now, imagine being able to do that kind of stuff with your best friend sitting right next to you. That's what we want. Me and my brother are devastated to hear that you are not implementing split-screen into Destiny.
-
Split screen is a must. Make it happen bungie. Graphics don't make the game!
-
I say no the game would have to render twice and the game already really good looking if it had to render twice the graphics wouldn't be as good and the game would have more lag
-
Or maybe cross gen online the my brother would just use my ps3 and comuter monitor and I would use the tv and ps4
-
I want Split-Screen because I'd like to play with my brother AND I will have to cancel my Pre-Order if there isn't Split-Screen...
-
I personally want splitscreen, in a style simmilar to Dungeon Defenders where a guest can selecta host's characters. Splitscreen is as old as modern FPSs thenself, so why not bungie?
-
Say yes but not now i want them to finich the game first and than adding splitscreen later on i think online playing is better and sony is releasing ps tv where you can play on a diffrent tv and still play with the person on the other screen but like i said i want them to finish destiny first do want a buggy laggy as. F game because they focused on diffrent things i hope you understand my opinion i voted yes after all
-
I laughed so much when I heard Urk say that, my mind was instantly filled with thoughts of this EXACT thread. There will be no splitscreen, no matter how much you bitch or cry.
-
Split screen is a must I mean atleast for single player must for family!
-
no leave it alone Destiny is perfect the way it is.
-
Even if split-screen were just in the crucible it would make this game 1000% more valuable! I personally would love something like a two player co-op split-screen and four player crucible matches either local only or in private party. Public matches should probably be capped at two players per device. Please Bungie!! We REALLY WANT THIS!!!!
-
I really hoped that I could play this game with my brother, like we did in Borderlands 2, but this is just sad for us now, because we don't have friends to play with who have a ps4 :(
-
Edited by Gnoizic: 6/12/2014 6:59:52 PMThey'd have to rubber band split screen players pretty well to keep them close enough that it won't affect the gameplay. I'm not opposed to splitscreen, so long as it's implemented well.
-
I know some people are concerned about it hampering the experience but if split screen is an optional choice you dont have to do it. Now for it hampering the games release most of us here aren't asking for a tacked on split-screen. If it comes post launch or the next game thats fine we just want that option to come and to let Bungie know that. We realize they have release date to meet etc and this was probably one of the things that didn't make the cut to make the release date.
-
Bungie...please realize that the horde of gamers that made Halo and the rest of the games so popular, as well as made you very wealthy, now have FAMILIES and WIVES. You do realize that we have to bargain for gaming time...and the easiest way for us to bargain with them is to INCLUDE them! BRING BACK SPLITSCREEN!! Thanks guys/gals for listening to us. :)
-
Totally agreeing with you. We want this for our future gaming. Split-screen was the future when they started putting in all the major games, then it fell out of style, but we still have those split-screen games and love them as much as we always did. I hope DeeJ is listening too. Splitscreen would be sweet.
-
The problem with this bud is that Split Screen is a lot feasibly harder and I personally don't want them negatively effecting the end product by having to hamstring Split Screen into the game. The game is a social co-op game yes, but it's open ended concept make split screen hard to implement. It's all about being your own person, if you have a guest how would they code that? Do these guests have to make their own character? use one of your existing ones? have to have a separate account with Gold to play? I personally accept the fact you have no split screen, god knows I have enough games like that. Split Screen is just possibly unattainable at this stage, would be nice but I can live without and live on as the game looks very good so far.
