It seems you have made an essay out of my single sentence, you deserve some sort of prize.
Heh, it's much easier to ramble from a very vague prompt than a very specific one.
Anyway I don't even notice a difference in graphics after 480p
On what sort of display, and from what viewing distance? The notion that you simply "don't see the difference above a certain resolution" is a bit absurd.
Whether you see the difference has everything to do with visual accuity and the angular size of pixels, not pure resolution. A 100" 4K screen has an extremely high resolution, but if I stick it 1' from your face, it'll look significantly more pixelated than a 20" 480i CRT will at a reasonable 7' viewing distance. This is because the screen is so big and so close that each individual pixel takes up a greater proportion of your vision.
//=================
Though I should note that nativeness is arguably as big an issue here as pure resolution; playing a 640p game on a 640p TV would probably look better than playing a 640p game on any TV that actually exists. That's one of the biggest reasons I keep an SD CRT around; if I'm playing 480-line games on an older console, they look a lot better on it than they do on our 1080p LCD.
