• Hey I read the guide but I don't quite understand how to go about doing my situation here: I want to change the email associated with my Gamertag, if I do that will my Bungie.net account change the login to the new email? So here's what I want: -to change my gamertag's email -keep my Bungie.net -have it linked to my gamertag still -keep all of my records (forum posts, file threads, etc.)

 • OK. Now I have 3 WLIDs. One I just created while trying to create a new email adress (apparently hotmail accounts are the same and WLID accounts?) It's not linked to anything. This account is linked to my main xbl GT and the third account, Vick Jr, is linked to my secondary XBL GT In the end, I would like to have that new one I created linked to my primary xbl GT and this b.net account, linked to my secondary xbl GT and iether a new WLID or the one previously linked to the second xbl GT with a revised email adress. I know, I'm confused to, but I hope to use this meathod to unlink everyhing then relink it all back up. I just hope I don't lose anything or, (worse lol), create something new.

 •
Posted by: Splinter067 Ok, here is the funny giggly part bud, I already did that, and theoretically it should have worked but I'm still seeing Splinter067 and not my new one
Sign into xbox.com as if you were signing into Bungie.net. That will tell you what gamertag is linked to your Bnet profile. If it's the one you want, then Bungie.net will eventually update. If it's not, you messed up and must retry the process or back track where you went wrong.

 •
Posted by: Splinter067 I know this thread is old, but is it possible to link another tag to a current profile with a gamertag already associated with it. I did what I though should be done, but I'm still seeing my old gamertag
Ok, this is a little harder to do. First you have to unlink your gamertag associated with your Bnet profile. Do this by accessing your gamertag in Account Management... selecting Windows Live ID and then Change Windows Live ID. From there enter the info in and reassociate your gamertag to a different email. Now go to your other tag and do the same thing, but the new WLID you are changing it to should be the same login information as if you were signing into Bungie.net. If done correctly, performing two WLID swaps can get the solution you are looking for. Be careful because you can only change your Windows Live ID associated with your gamertag once every thirty days.

When I attempt to log in it directs me to an account creation screen. I ALREADY have an account. I've even used "log in as an existing user" and I still get sent to the account creation screen. Why does it do this? It's preventing me from linking, and it's been like this forever. :'(
Access Account Management on your Xbox 360 dashboard, signed into your Xbox Live gamertag related to the issue. Select Windows Live ID, and then Change Windows Live ID. Enter in the password to your current WLID email associated to your gamertag. Now it will ask you if you have a WLID you would like to change it to, so say Yes. It will ask for an email and password, which is when you should enter the same login information as if you were signing into your Bungie.net profile. After the process is complete, your gamertag will be linked to your Bungie.net account.

Is there ANY possible way around this or am is -blam!-ed for good? please help! :\
If the child's WLID is a hotmail or live account, you can alter the registered information and make yourself 18+. After that, simply access your Xbox Live gamertag in Account Management and select the option Promote Child Account. Doing this will fix your problem, however, it will prompt you to add a new credit card. Might I add, you will not be able to recover your Yahoo account if you can't verify the personal information required. My suggestion would be to contact a Technical Support representative on their website. • UNLINKING/LINKING XBOX LIVE GAMERTAG & BUNGIE.NET ACCOUNT BY CHANGING WLID As of December 4, 2007, after downloading the Xbox 360 fall dashboard update, you are allowed to unlink your Xbox Live Gamertag from your Bungie.net account. Also, you are now able to link a previously made Xbox Live gamertag to a Bungie.net account that has not been linked. In order to perform one of those actions, you must change your Windows Live ID. Instead of directing you to another website I will post how to switch your WLID for you Xbox Live account below as well as information regarding this topic and what affects it has with your Bungie.net profile.

BUNGIE.NET INFORMATION : The truth is that Xbox Live gamertags aren't actually linked to Bungie.net accounts. A gamertag is linked to a Windows Live ID. A WLID can be used to log onto Bungie.net. But there isn't a true "link" between the Bungie account and the gamertag. The "pivot point" is the WLID. If you think of the WLID as a "key chain" and the gamertag, Bungie account, and other Windows Live associated functions as "keys," that may help to keep things clear. I am going to explain a few things that you may or may not be aware of. There are obviously more options now to what you can do with your WLID, gamertag, and Bungie.net account, as before when you were limited on what you could do. Let me clear some things up for you. You may never change your Bungie.net display name after you have successfully created your account. The only user that can change your name that appears in the forums, ect... is Achronos and other administrators. Unless you have an incredible reason telling them why they should change it, your request will most likely be declined. Before the update you were not allowed to "unlink" your gamertag, so the only way to change the display name associated with it, would be to let the account auto delete. An account will automatically delete itself due to one year of inactivity. Once this has been done, posts and messages by that user will change to "Anonymous User (Deleted)." If you log into a Bungie.net account that was auto deleted, the site would simply take you to Profile Creation where you would be able to "change" your name associated with that gamertag linked to the WLID you signed in with. Now, changing your WLID associated with your gamertag can be used as a way to unlink your gamertag from your Bungie.net account. Complicated? A little, but hopefully by giving some examples, you will have a better understanding. e.i. 1: Unlinking Your Gamertag From Your Bnet Profile & Re-associate It With a New Bnet Profile
Bungie.net Account - BnetFanOne Bungie.net Account - BnetFanTwo Xbox Live Gamertag - XBLfan Current Windows Live ID - bnetfan1@hotmail.com New Windows Live ID - bnetfan2@hotmail.com Listed above is information that is for example purposes only. Please do not message, email, or contact any one of those above unless you know them.
So, you use your current WLID to sign into BnetFanOne, which has the gamertag XBLfan linked to it. All you have to do is change your WLID of XBLfan from bnetfan1@hotmail.com to bnetfan2@hotmail.com via the Xbox 360 dashboard under Account Management. Now when you log into Bungie.net with your new WLID, it will take you to profile creation. Create a new account and there you go; XBLfan is now linked to your new Bnet profile. Your old account, BnetFanOne still exists and has all of your posts, messages, groups, ect... but is no longer linked to a gamertag. e.i. 2: Linking a Previously Made Xbox Live Gamertag to Your Bungie.net Profile Beforehand, if you signed up on Bungie.net with a WLID that was not associated with a gamertag, you were limited to what you could do. In theory, if you wanted to link your gamertag, you would only be able to link it to a new gamertag on xbox.com. Now, things are different. To link your gamertag to your Bungie.net account, simply change your WLID of your Xbox Live account to the WLID you use to log into Bungie.net. After this is completed, sign out and sign back in to Bungie.net and your Xbox Live account will then be linked. By going to edit profile and then profile information, you may select whether or not you wish to hide your gamertag. If you choose to hide your gamertag, others will not be able to access your statistics from your Bungie.net profile. It will appear as though as your Bungie.net account is not associated with a Xbox Live gamertag.

SWITCH THE WLID FOR YOUR XBOX LIVE GAMERTAG : When you sign up for Xbox LIVE, you associate your Xbox LIVE account with a Windows Live ID. You use this Windows Live ID to manage your account, recover your profile, and sign in to services like Windows Live Messenger on your console. You can switch to another Windows Live ID if you no longer want to use the one that is currently associated with your Xbox LIVE account. When you switch, all information about your Xbox LIVE account moves to the new Windows Live ID. Your gamertag and all profile information remain the same.
Note: If you are signed up for Zune Marketplace, Zune Social, or Games for Windows - LIVE with the same Windows Live ID, they will also move to the new Windows Live ID. After the switch, you will use the new Windows Live ID to sign in to those services. Windows Live features and services, like Windows Live Messenger contacts and Windows Live Spaces, will remain with your old Windows Live ID and will not be transferred.
When you change your Windows Live ID, any Microsoft Points on your old Windows Live ID will be transferred to the new Windows Live ID. Other services may also transfer. For information about which services will move with your Xbox LIVE account, see Checking Your Billing Information, below. Before changing the Windows Live ID on your Xbox LIVE account, gather the following information: * The Windows Live ID and password currently associated with your Xbox LIVE account. This is referred to as the current or old Windows Live ID on the screen during the process. * The Windows Live ID and password you want to move your Xbox LIVE account to. This is referred to as the new Windows Live ID on the screen.
Note: The new Windows Live ID must not be associated with an existing Xbox LIVE, Games for Windows – LIVE, or Zune account.
To change the Windows Live ID associated with your Xbox LIVE account, do the following : 1. From any area of the Xbox Dashboard, select your gamer profile. 2. Select Account Management. 3. Select Windows Live ID. 4. Select Change Windows Live ID. 5. Follow the steps to change your Windows Live ID.
Note: For security reasons, you can switch IDs only once every 30 days.
Checking Your Billing Information If you have multiple services associated with your Windows Live ID, you may want to check the Microsoft billing site before switching IDs. It's important to understand which services are moved when you switch, so you know which IDs to sign in with to manage the accounts. The following items are moved to the new Windows Live ID during the switch: * Xbox LIVE * Zune Pass * Microsoft Points * Other services may also move with your Xbox LIVE account, but the services that move depend on how they were set up. These other services can be accessed through either the old or new Windows Live ID after the switch. To Check Your Accounts 1. On your computer, go to http://billing.microsoft.com and sign in with your current ("old") Windows Live ID. 2. Under "Your services," you should see your Xbox LIVE service. Any services listed with your Xbox LIVE service will move during the switch. For more information about your Xbox LIVE membership, see our detailed Account Management FAQ. For general information about Xbox LIVE memberships, see www.xbox.com/live.

 •
Posted by: lysol eater When ever I switch the Windows Live ID on my Dashboard it says I need verify my age? Can you tell me what this means please??
Sure. This means that either the Windows Live ID you are trying to associate your gamertag with does not have a birthdate recorded or that your current Windows Live ID is registered as an adult, but the one you want to change it to is registered as a minor. To fix this issue, you want to go to this page here and sign into your new WLID. Once at the homepage, click the link titled "Registered information." Add or Change your date of birth so Xbox Live will accept it and then hit Save. You should be returned back to the previous page and see that your information was altered successfully. Now, you can go to Account Management on your Xbox 360 console and retry the process. If this doesn't work, it may be for the fact that you currently have a child account and wish to change it to an adult account. In this case, you would have to change the birthdate of your current WLID, using the same method above. Then go to Account Management and select Promote Child To Adult. You would then be required to enter a new credit card, accept the Terms and Agreements, ect... After that, you may change your Windows Live ID. For more information regarding promoting a child account to adult, visit this support link here. If you have more questions or would like further assistance, please feel free to send me a private message and I will be more than glad to help with what I can. [Edited on 03.12.2008 5:01 PM PDT]

 • Holy crap this actually worked although my account here on B.net was linked to an expired tag that Ive never used on the 360. I just recovered the old GT on the 360, changed its WLID then signed in to my current GT and changed the WLID on that into that of my old GT. My current GT is now showing up in my B.net profile but it says that I havent played any Halo 3 games on it but I know why it is that way. I changed the name of my current GT while messing with the WLID´s so its going to update as soon as B.net has retrieved the correct data from xbl which usually takes a day or two. Edit: It took xbl/xbox.com and B.net two days to sync and everything is now working again. My new GT with its new name is now showing up like it should and the service record is up to date.
