Destiny Seems Like an Improved upon Borderlands

Disclaimer: As a community, we haven't see too much about Destiny, so I acknowledge that my current perception of Destiny can change profoundly in the coming weeks or months. I picked up Borderlands 2 earlier in the Summer, have been playing and enjoying it. But the news I've been hearing about Destiny has led me to draw a lot of similarities between both BL2 and D1. Similarities: /- Open-World(ish) /- Cooperative Team Play vs. AI Enemies (BL2 with Team of 4, D1 with Fireteam of 3) /- Loot-oriented /- Quests /- Massive amount of weapons; exotic and not. /- Character customization /- Vehicles /- Characters with primary special abilities; (like how Warlocks have Nova Blast and Assassins (In BL2) have the Ghosting Hologram ability) I see differences; greater character customization and gun leveling up in D1, different stories, and simply greater depth. In comparing BL2 and D1, I see D1 as a greater, much improved BL2 (which I suppose isn't a bad thing, but it makes D1 seem not as innovative as it may present itself to be : / ). Of course, a lot remains to be seen. Faction Wars seem interesting, so the possible PvP aspect to D1 could delineate itself from just being a better Borderlands. Am I the only one who is thinking that Destiny (we've seen so far) is just a better, sci-fi, Borderlands?
